Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.
Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/blac...8908893088

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.
Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

Very dangerous scam going on right now involving Target Gift Cards. It just happened to me and now I'm out $700. Please exercise EXTREME caution if you're going to go into the store to purchase physical gift cards.

For all 7 of the $100 cards I purchased, I checked the balance to make sure they were active before I left the parking lot. When I got home to redeem them, they've already been redeemed. I spoke to Apple for hours and they found out it was very clear that it had been redeemed under fraudulent apple ID accounts and used to make purchases ALREADY. My belief is that a scammer, either internal to Target or external, has recorded down the PIN numbers on these UNACTIVATED gift cards, purchased tamper proof stickers to put back on the gift card, put these gift cards back on the retail shelves, then wait for the customers to purchase them & do the activation for them. Then they can easily redeem them to an account. It only took a few hours between when I purchased the gift cards and when I was at home trying to redeem them to have these balances liquidated.

Apple could not reverse this balance being redeemed because the scammers already used it to make purchases. Target cannot help and says I need to work with Apple. So now I am out $700.

There were several mentions of this happening in a similar thread on slickdeals, found here. Buyers BEWARE. Please be careful. Give this a like if you can so others can see that this is a serious issue.

Sure you can use this cards with any Apple service. They are essentially cash at an Apple Store or online at apple.com.

What you can't do is get the Black Friday gift card bonuses on purchases at the edu store.

I bought 4 Apple $100 GCs in store today and immediately used the Target bonus cards that they activate for $20 at the register. Did yours have scratch off backs for the code or the tear off sticker? Mine were the tear off sticker going to check the balances now.

ETA Checked one and no issue. It may have been an issue at your local store rather then wide spread fraud.
So the person would have to have a program to immediately redeem them once they are activated.

Sorry that happened to you. That's why, I always redeem the Apple GC the moment I get to the parking lot. It's just a quick scan and the $100 will be credited in your Apple ID account. The Target GC required some scratching, but only take a second to scan, and then 3 secs to type in the number. So it's quite painless and that will make sure I got everything credited right away.

The 8 that I ordered yesterday between 5PM and 10PM are starting to trickle in. 2/8 Apple. 0/8 Target. I placed another order right now for $100 apple and I got a confirmation email. But this order is not coming up on my online Target account. Anyone else having problems with orders placed today?

Just a reminder that citi is starting its 5% cash back for online purchases tomorrow so if you have something like the double cash card, that ends up being 7% cash back for 500$.

I bought 2 $100 Apple gift cards online and noticed that the 5% RedCard discount only gave 4% off. So I chatted with Target customer service and they manually adjusted it to 5% ($5) off each card purchase. Based on principle, I suggest others doing the same since our invoices do in fact state that it is a full 5% RedCard discount. It's only $1, but it's still an overcharge at the end of the day.

It's also worth noting that it took approximately 24 hours to receive the digital cards and bonus $20 promo. So please be prepared to wait upon ordering.

Mine has no scratch off back, nor a tear off sticker. What these gift cards had at the East Hanover Target in NJ was a holographic sticker on the back (under the UPC barcode for cashier) with the little green arrow all the way to the right. They sealed all the gift cards that prevent the card (containing PIN) from being revealed. If the gift card is supposed to have an actual sticker over the redemption PIN or a scratch off, then I can confirm that these are all compromised at this store.

Yeah - I was stupid about this - I should have just redeemed them into my account right away instead of waiting to get home to do so but who would have thought it could be this bad. What's worse is most consumers who might be buying that gift card organically to give as gifts, will eventually find out that their gift cards have no value (much later than I had discovered it happened)..
