Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.
Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.
Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

Ordered 10 initially using PayPal checkout: 2 got canceled within an hour, the other 8 GCs just went through almost 24 hours later. I ordered 2 more late yesterday to replace the cancellations - those are still processing. Seems like they are taking a while to process these orders, but most will go through eventually.

I don't. You're better off paying it all with gift cards and getting AppleCare at this point.
Yup especially if configuring.

Very dangerous scam going on right now involving Target Gift Cards. It just happened to me and now I'm out $700. Please exercise EXTREME caution if you're going to go into the store to purchase physical gift cards.

For all 7 of the $100 cards I purchased, I checked the balance to make sure they were active before I left the parking lot. When I got home to redeem them, they've already been redeemed. I spoke to Apple for hours and they found out it was very clear that it had been redeemed under fraudulent apple ID accounts and used to make purchases ALREADY. My belief is that a scammer, either internal to Target or external, has recorded down the PIN numbers on these UNACTIVATED gift cards, purchased tamper proof stickers to put back on the gift card, put these gift cards back on the retail shelves, then wait for the customers to purchase them & do the activation for them. Then they can easily redeem them to an account. It only took a few hours between when I purchased the gift cards and when I was at home trying to redeem them to have these balances liquidated.

Apple could not reverse this balance being redeemed because the scammers already used it to make purchases. Target cannot help and says I need to work with Apple. So now I am out $700.

There were several mentions of this happening in a similar thread on slickdeals, found here. Buyers BEWARE. Please be careful. Give this a like if you can so others can see that this is a serious issue.

Damn that sucks. I guess people should heed this warning and redeem right away. Repped!

So do you recommend purchasing half gift cards and half CC?
Not really making a recommendation but I'd take the chance as 20% discount on Apple stuff is a lot.

Seeing this in the first page and I am confused. Well I bought an iPhone already without knowing this deal so the math caught my eyes.
If u treat the $20 as cash, wouldn't it be more like a rebate(almost like instant cash value discount) instead of the idea of buying a $120 gift card with $100?
Say u buy a phone total of $1200, you would need 12 of the $100 gift cards n u have 12 x $20 = $240 cash back in hand. Basically its like u got $240 off $1200, which is 20% off.
It's not $120 gift cards to use at Apple which u need only 10 of $100 payments in Target. In this case it would be paying $1000 for $1200 item n the discount is 16.7%.
The guy asked if its 20% of an iPhone, I feel like it is if the total amount paid towards the iPhone can be divided into whole number of $100 gift cards.
I talked with my parents about it this morning and they all said the same as u, then I explained to them how I thought later they all seemed to be confusingly agreed with me... I don't know if I am right but I sure have the ability to persuade or... confuse people...
Not like the percentage matters its still a good deal.

Damn! I'm about to go store buy some more but with your post I'll probably stick it to online instead even though it takes forever to receive them.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm SOL on this $700 too. Apple refuses to do anything and Target may conduct an investigation, but let's be real. There's a very slim chance anything is going to be resolved here. I would suggest buying it online instead of in the store.. Or if you go in store, make sure to redeem it to your account the second you buy it. That should limit your risk. It's also possible that my local target was compromised but not yours, so I don't want to overestimate and say everyone at their local target should be concerned.

Not directly related but can somebody point which credit card gives extended warranty even if an item is partially charged on card and rest of gc. I saw some discussion earlier but cannot find that now.

All of them allow that but you can only claim warranty up to the amount charged to the card. So effectively speaking, you can't have that cake and eat it.
