Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.

Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.

Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

If Apple has your true ID From your devices and they see the thieves are using wacky fake generated Apple ID emails isn't that proof enough? If Apple is aware of this scam and they are all about two factor ID and all that security why haven't they figured out a way to put more security on these store cards. Like putting a 4 digit pin you provide at purchase to activate

how? I have a friend at Apple - was thinking of having him get me the discount but i think he needs to use his apple id to login to apply discount - right?
He can order it and set you as the pick up person. If he's inside Apple he should be able to ask around for the process.

Don't redeem the gift cards to your balance, he can apply up to 8 of them directly with the coses

I feel Chase will help. You did not receive what you paid for. That is a valid reason to dispute your card. You should also send emails to Executives of Target and Apple. I did send email to Delta and Lowes CEO and Executives. Both time the issue was taken care of quickly.
I'll send you a PM. Perhaps you could help me locate this information online. I'm not as well-versed in finding their contact information online as there are just so many resources that are not as helpful out there. Thank you so much

Thanks - I appreciate the advice. I'll work on #4 tomorrow as that's something I didnt think of. Apple basically told me "I see that they were activated on fraudulent accounts, but we can't get that money back for you as it's already been redeemed"...
Can't Apple just stop the shipment? Without physical card, the scammer could only do online order. Even store pickup order takes time to get ready. If you realized what happen "as soon as you get home" (I believe I say you said that). Apple should be able to stop shipment and hold the funding for investigation.

That was exactly my thoughts. However, Apple seems unwillingly to go forward with any action except disabling those fraudulent ID's. This sounds even more shitty - but I feel like from Apple's perspective, their stance is "well.. we got our money for our sales from these purchases, scam or not" so they choose not to help further. I caught this happening within 4 hours of me actually purchasing the gift card, so you're right. They should be able to either stop an in store pickup (which would take processing time) or a shipment of an order involving fraud. However, they didn't seem to do this - unless they can't disclose that they did.

So I have a question if I pay for my phone in full in gift cards and turn in my old I phone for trade in how will Apple credit me back my 210$ for my iPhone 8 Plus will I get in gift cards or will they ask me for credit / debit info for the trade in value to be credited to ?
You will get the trade in value back on a gift card if you paid with gift cards.

They may just be adding funds to the account without ordering at this time. Just like when thieves steal credit card info they start off small amounts hoping people don't notice then when it works they go big. I know I was a victim of identity theft with my redcard a few years ago. They purchased the same amount of electronics $300 in 10 targets within my zip code. Target knew my shopping habits and new these were fraudulent charges. They did remove the charges after investigation

Don't underestimate executive office, they are not just csr.
It is true. Few years back I bought a few Verizon gift cards from Verizon directly. And non of them are activated. I called CSR again and again, no one could help me, I end up called Verizon executive office, they get all my cards activated.

What you said is sad, but true. Apple & Target just shrug their shoulders at me and expect me to turn around and walk away with a $700 loss. #4 will be a stretch but I'll do anything I can in hopes that this will be resolved one day.

My best bet is #1, but I'm nervous on how Chase will view all of this and whether they will cover it or not. The nature of the scam is so shitty & in "a gray area" which makes me concerned.
I paid using AMEX and Chase CSR. Total $700. Waiting for the transactions to post so that I can dispute. Maybe all of us who were scammed can work together so that they can take action.

So what happened in my case was all 7 of my Apple Cards were redeemed to the fraudulent apple ID's, but only one of those $100 cards were not yet used for a purchase. Apple was able to claw back the money from that apple ID and instructed me over the phone to re-activate it on my own apple ID. So I did get $100 back onto my account. However, they said the other 6 is SOL. Once it's been spent, it's gone, which just seems terribly unhelpful.

Gift card, for sure, as it will "apply to your original payment"

Feel free to send me a PM with anything you need. At this point, I'm not sure what exactly we can do to work together to create a case. But I am definitely all for working together to help Target/Apple/Chase/AMEX recognize what's going on here.

We need to find a way to let press know. This is really easy for Apple, they could just hold the funding and request prof of purchase from both side, then everything is done. What they are doing is simply encouraging scam.

Wow they wouldn't help you out but yet millions of apple products looted during riots and they never did a darn thing.
