Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.
Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.
Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

I want to buy a macbook air that costs over $1000 at the apple edu website. Can I use as many apple giftcards to make the purchase online or would it be better to add the gift cards to my apple ID?
8 is the limit online not sure if it is different for the EDU site but just throw something in your cart and go to checkout and it will tell you.

Why are people worried about getting fraudulent cards from Target? No one can open the cards, use them, and put the seal back. A Target employee has to unlock the card for it to even work. So if your cards were already used, all Target would need to do is check the ID of the person in their computer system who unlocked the card. A gift card is absolutely useless until someone at the register unlocks it. When you buy one, your receipt even shows you the unlock code that was used.
You are missing the point of this common scam. I remember 2 years ago this time Lowes GC Kiosks got hit hard. The person takes the GCs from the store and does not buy or activate them. They take them home remove the seal and enter the code/PIN in a computer program that is constantly trying to redeem them. They go to ebay and purchase roles of 1K new seals, They take the new seals and apply them so the card looks new. They then return the unused unactivated card to the store. You go into the store and buy and activate the card at the register for $100 and the scammers program instantly redeems it to their account. Make sense?

does the Apple store ever do sales on their products? like i frequently see iPad on sale at retailers, butt dont think i have ever seen one on sale direct. that sale price could out weigh the value of getting target gift cards.
They have a BF "sale" where they offer GCs on older models mostly.

I purchased multiple $100 apple GC online Sunday and in store Monday. Luckily all of the ones I purchased in store were the "newer" version with the security pull tab seal. I can see how the entire seal could be removed and replaced and a new different seal easily applied and I would have had no idea. So make sure when buying in store that it has the official apple seal, I guess you would have to Google to see an image if you don't know what they are supposed to look like, and that someone could still have access to these seals and reapply them in their scam.

My online codes I had the same issue as you. I think I have read every post in this thread and have not seen anyone else mention it, so to the person that attacked you back off not everyone knows all of the ins and outs of the different types of apple gift cards. I redeemed mine on my iPad Pro on iOS 14 and when I tapped the Target link it opened a Blackhawk website and when I clicked on redeem it did exactly like yours launched iTunes and loaded it my account. What is worse I did this twice until I realized what was going on. Luckily I was buying a new Apple Watch series 6 Nike 44mm with trade in so apple was the best deal for me. I was able to use that balance and combine it with the gift card codes manually typed in online, but I had thought I just wasted $200 on software and subscriptions.

One possible option I saw that may work for you is using your iTunes credit to purchase and send yourself a new electronic giftcard but not sure if that would be allowed to be used in store. Maybe that "friendly" now it all guy could chime in.
Thank you, yeah I tried that, and Apple doesn't allow you to use gift cards to buy gift cards unfortunately. So now that they're open I'm gonna try to reach out to apples gift card department and see what that gets me. :/

Eh, my gift cards stars with and X and they specifically say:

"Use the Apple Gift Card to get products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, and more. Spend it on in-app content, books, subscriptions and even iCloud storage to secure files from all your Apple devices. This gift card does it all. And then some.

The Apple Gift Card can be used two ways:

1. For online purchases, go to apple.com/redeem to add to your Apple Account balance.
2. Bring this email to any Apple Store location."
Yeah mine says that too. But if you look on apples website regarding the different types of Apple gift cards that exist, you can click on App Store / iTunes cards and it specifically says " A 16-digit redemption code that begins with X."

Can you buy something online with your balance, pickup at your Apple store, return it right away for store credit (this way you get a physical gift card), then use it to buy in store?

You should be able to get around with this method. Sometimes csr did even refund everything back to your credit card, any card not just the one used, good kuck to you.

Placed 7 orders Sunday night at 10:30 pm Eastern time with my RedCardone right after the other. Received all 7 about 4:30 am Tuesday....so it took about 30 hours or so. I received all seven Apple and all seven target gift cards.

I ordered 17 cards back to back, just using the same Capital One card for each transaction online Sunday night around 7:30-7:50 PM EST. Took almost a full 24 hours, but the 17 Apple gift cards rolled in and 17 target gift cards right after that. Used the Apple cards to buy a new M1 Macbook Pro on the Apple edu store and my wife stocked up with baby supplies for our kid due in January with the Target cards applied to our account. Solid deal, just required a little patience I guess.

edit: Capital One sent me a fraud email asking me to confirm the $100 Target.com transaction after the first 3 cards, but I hit accept before ordering the 4th and it didn't give me any issues for cards 4-17
