Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.

Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.

Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

The negative part of this deal is it seems like none of the apple stores have iPads in stock and its backordered until at least mid December, if not early January. While other stores like Best Buy have them in stock.

does anyone know if another deal like this usually pops up again right before Christmas?

Missed this one and was going to purchase some Apple products soon.

tldr - I'm sure some people will think I'm trolling but target accidentally sent me double gift cards on 6 of my 9 transactions. I'm posting to see if this happened to anyone else.

I ordered 9 gift cards on separate orders in order to get my wife a new iPhone 12. I had delays like many others, I had 1 come through a couple hours later, then 6 the next day and the last two took a while longer.
It seems the system glitched and for the 6 transactions I ended up getting emailed again from target. In both emails it's the same order number but with two different gift cards. So it seems like I got an extra $600. I double checked and I only got charged for the original 9 orders. I ended up verifying with their customer service and they said "there was a system issue happened that's why multiple GiftCards were sent to your account". They said I won't be charged and I'm fine to keep them, so it ended up being almost a bogo. Not bad at all.

I have no idea... there has never been a deal like this before. I bought 1k in cards for an iPad and I was hesitant so next time I'm all in too!

This might fall under the category of good-to-know.

Subtle aside that I discovered (after purchase of deal and then of iPhone 12 pro max 512) for those with ATT, and an iphone 6s that will get you $350 credit over 30 months.

You can't pay for phone in full from Apple with gc AND do $350 trade-in with ATT. It's one or the other.
This is an important detail when assessing this deal. If someone knows how to do both, please let me know!!!

When buying the iPhone 12 Pro Max 512G (top price phone), aside from time invested in buying gc, it's basically a wash when buying from Apple or ATT. (Other issues aside, such as locked/unlocked).

When buying a lower priced phone, the pendulum swings clearly to buying from and trading in with ATT (assuming the $350 trade-in).

However, in situations where no trade-ins or "good" trade-in value are available, the Apple gc deal still rocks.
No way to get both. I ignored this deal at first because I kept hoping Verizon would come through with a deal for existing customers. But they didn't. So this was the best deal for me.

Huh weird, my order went through weeks ago (MacBook was supposed to ship this week).

I just got an email saying my gift cards "didn't go through" and to update my payment method. I'm in meetings all day and probably won't be able to call until tonight, anyone else have this issue?

Following up. What a freaking mess.

Girl I spoke to put the payment through again. She was unable to fully articulate what was happening but when I logged in it looks like I'm still paying $899 for a base MacBook, using 8 gift cards, but now I'm paying $100 more.

My iTunes account has a $0.00 balance so I'm not sure what's going on.

I guess I'm the only one with these strange order issues...

What was it showing initially when you ordered?

If you had 8 GCs then its $800 value -- $899 MacBook would mean you still have $99 + tax on full $899 left to pay

Thanks for your reply. I have a pleasantly surprising post script as of yesterday. Apple paid me $60 for my 6s, so, in the end, I did a touch better than I would have with the trade-in to AT&T.

Stuff that doesn't matter a ton to me, but, might to others - the phone is unlocked, I am not locked into AT&T for 30 months, and I don't have to wait 30 months to realize the benefit of the tradein (and in fairness for comparison on this, I did have to put forth now the full payment for the phone, rather than paying out in smaller chunks over 30 months). I also think, and will know for sure in my next bill, that I won't have to pay a $30 activation fee (I think I would have incurred this charge had I purchased from AT&T, but, am not sure whether this is the case).

A friend offered to use his employee discount to sponsor my purchase. Unfortunately, the Apple ID workaround to the 8 card limit does not work for such purchases
We're to able to find any solution while buying through employee discount ?

Let me know how you fixed it... I've been transferred from Apple Order Support to Technical Services like 7x on the same call, each time explaining the same thing and the person helping me not really understanding the issue.

My iTunes balance disappeared into thin air and nobody can explain why...
