Is the homebase required for these cameras? The other doorbell deal for 139 includes a home base.

update, found my answer here. This wired (no battery) model does not need a home base. its advantage appears to be the 3 second pre-roll recording on motion detection. https://files.bbystatic.com/uUTEq...f5dac9.pdf

Yeah it has also 4GB internal storage to store some video BUT keep in mind it requires 16-24V 30VA or higher power bell transformer and usually older bells have like 16-20VA rating so you most likely need to upgrade

This one does not work with your existing mechanical chime if that's something you care about. The one currently on sale from Best Buy does if you wire it.

Where exactly does it store? On an SD? Looking to replace my nest. Refuse to pay $50 a year just for a doorbell camera.

There's internal storage, this model seems to have only 4GB, the one at Best Buy without base has 32GB, but in both cases it's inside the bell at which point I think it's dumb since all perpetrator has to do is just take the bell with them and then there goes your video and proof of anything. The one with base also gives you option adding wireless cameras as well (up to 16 devices total I think), so it might be more further proof. Reviews mention issues with motion detection being short distance (around 3 feet) but I'm sure that can be tested out and returned if bought from Best Buy or Amazon, with Newegg I'm sure it will be more complicated or costly.

I thought the wired one didn't work with the existing chime either, which is why it came with a digital chime. I ordered the one from best buy but haven't gotten it yet; that was the only downside for me.

You should look it it the battery version if you want the chime to work. It's the 2K battery one with homebase. As far as I know it's the only one that works. I'm debating whether to jump on it or wait since it's the first iteration of the product

Thanks for the clarification. Honestly, the continuous recording and 3 second pre is more important to me than the chime. I'll make do with digital.

You don't need any skills to replace the transformer it's just a few wires.

I've had this since release, replaced POS Ring 2. It's been great, 4GB limitation doesn't seem to be problem. If Eufy ever updates the indoor cams or floodlight cams to work with homebase, I may upgrade to a doorbell with homebase, but I'm happy enough for now.

Regarding the 3ft motion comment, it has adjustable zones. I had to decrease sensitivity to not trigger on neighbor entering driveway 30-40ft away. Perhaps that comment referred to the battery version?

anker really shall prioritize needed update so those standalone cameras and door bells can work with the base.
