Don't forget that DeWalt makes barrel grip now with their cordless lineup. There are only benefits to them over D grip handle.. well except price. Your hand is a lot closer to the surface so you get much better precision even if you've only ever used a D grip all your life. There's a reason why nearly every major tool brand in the world is switching to them or at least offering them at a slightly higher price.
Circular Saw:
I always suggest getting full size unless you rarely use it and you know what you're going to need to do. For example, if you might need a specialty blade, it's much much easier finding it for a 7" circular saw over a 6". Circular saws with Max from DeWalt are typically not at deep of discounts as some of their other tools get.
Light:
I question anyone that'd pick that light over some of the other free tools they're offering even if you resold it
Drill:
DeWalt offers more compact drills. I strongly suggest that if you aren't drilling into concrete/brick all the time that you DO NOT get a hammer drill as your main drill. You are needlessly carrying around extra weight for something you may do on extreme occasions or never for that matter. Its much much better to get a normal drill (DeWalt offers two newer drills than this one, both are much smaller and lighter yet can easily drill into hard woods/metal). With that money saved, get yourself a corded drill from Harbor Freight, buy a used one, get a Chinese one off Amazon.. it doesnt matter unless you need that hammer function routinely. As a home owner and a woodworker I actually DO NOT want a hammer drill as my main drill, its more harm than good. People have the mindset that its "the best" but its really not if you rarely use that functionality.
Reciprocating Saw:
I strongly recommend anyone living in a house, especially if you DIY to get one of these. They are masters at breaking things down while also being pretty useful in the garden. They have special blades for everything from cutting brands/limbs up to metal and they are usually very cheap. Just note that on eBay I've got a Max compact one for $85 new before from one of the top DeWalt sellers on there so you might be able to get it cheaper.
Grinder:
It's the only tool that properly scares me. My suggestion is to get one that has an excellent guard on it. I see guys take them off, etc. That's fantastic. I've seen people drink drive while not wearing a seat belt too. Really brilliant, truly a stable genius move. If you care about not going to the ER for half of a blade that was fractured, fell apart and is now inside you then I strongly suggest taking all safety measures including proper safety equipment. I'd even look into getting a fitted leather apron. They are very useful, but they are dangerous no matter what koolaid people tell you. For all the major power tools used in a normal shop, per capita.. again per capita, it ranks at or near the top depending on location in regard to ER visits. I know facts are meaningless these days in this country but lets just pretend facts matter just for a second, you know, like normal people. And my point here again, find whatever the safest is and go with that even if you spend $100 extra. Most of you are worth not getting a super nasty injury you'll have to look at for the rest of your life.
Hand Planer:
Yes!
Get if you need it. We ultimately went for DeWalts top planner they sell and outside of a super moronic mistake (screw was in wood, scratched the surface really bad, super pissed at myself for that one), the planer is truly awesome. I used this one too beforehand with a project and it worked really well! I had to join boards together that were 2x8, one was warped pretty bad but I had no choice but to use it.. it got the job done! I actually got lots of compliments on it. Could that have also been done had I had a normal bench planer? Yes. But I didn't due to their cost at the time and actually given the situation I was in, the hand planner was a much better option for me believe it or not.
Fan:
DeWalt makes the best portable work fan out of any of the major brands. Trust me, I've done lots and lots of research. I wanted to go with Milwuakee actually but DeWalt nailed it. It was on sale here on SlickDeals so you can see what the sale price goes for. What I love about it is if it rains, its not game over. If it drops, it hopefully has a fighting chance. I can instantly hang it from a ladder, a tent, or have it seated. It's extremely powerful and extremely efficient at the same time. In Florida heat, you have no idea what its like to have a weak fan vs a powerful fan. If you need one of these, I would get the DeWalt one hands down, no questions asked. You 100% get what you pay for.
Sander:
DeWalt is likely the top seller for orbital sanders in the US. I see them everywhere. I frankly like my corded one, its lighter and its a tool where the cord isnt a giant deal if it gets in my way, I cant exactly cut through it by accident and I usually have a free hand anyways.
Multitool:
DeWalts multitool is amazing! I've used it on baseboards, cutting holes out of drywall, cutting really thick nails flush with wood, etc.
Best tools IMO:
(For tools that I see usually not go deep discounts a lot. YMMV)
Jigsaw
Hand Planer
Circular Saw
Again, YMMV
Seems great! But how is a 2 pack of batteries and charger $200? That seems insane...

There are some good deals to be had here. Example:
7 1/4 inch dewalt circular saw with 8ah battery - 280
Free tool - 1/4 inch cordless router (tool only) which is 165$ on amazon
The combo I'm looking at is:
Item # 1599707 | Model # DCS574W1
DEWALT XR POWER DETECT 20-Volt Max 7-1/4-in Brushless Cordless Circular Saw with Brake and Aluminum Shoe (Charger Included) $279
Sorry for the silly questions.
Which one is better?
XR Reciprocating Saw DCS367P1
or
20-Volt Max Variable Speed Cordless Reciprocating Saw DCS380B
I am assuming the XR 8AH battery is better than the 2 5AH.
Thanks.
nice of them to do this 2 weeks after HD did it -- I got the 4ah/6ah battery pack from HD and the 6 1/2 saw, instead of two 5s. regardless, even with 2x5ah and a tool, you get it all for about $200 +tax. its a decent savings if figure a tool for $100 and about $10/ah for batteries. not sure you can get batteries cheaper.
I think a decent retail price is like $14-$15/ah and most tools are about 130. I figured if i bought that stuff new on amazon it was going to cost me 300+, but I got a deal like this from HD for 200+ tax.
BTW, HD wont ship the damn saw, so i got my batteries and had to cancel the saw [no HD near me]. Basically got the batteries for like $115.

Yeah, sometimes it seems cheaper to buy a tool you don't need just for the batteries than to buy the batteries alone.
But where do they sell them together? I've only ever seen "bare tool" items on the shelves
7 1/4 inch dewalt circular saw with 8ah battery - 280
Free tool - 1/4 inch cordless router (tool only) which is 165$ on amazon
lots of others like that. In for 1 of the above.
