I believe this is the lowest price ever offered from JBL on the PB100, which is a really great speaker in this market. Peace

Not saying one product is better than the other, but one company makes nothing but audio products, another is known for portable battery packs and charging cables...

I own 2 of these and 2 party box 300. One word of caution for DJ-ing is the audio lag on these specifically. Almost 1 full second of lag, keeping them out of sync with headphones plugged into a mixer or controller (this delay exists even when using the wired connection) so if you are comfortable mixing In The headphones only can be a great solution. If you like the one headphone tactic it constantly sounds like a train wreck.

Yep. I bought an inexpensive pair of Amazon tripods and have a pair of the PB100's behind my basement couch. I've used these for parties direct wired to my laptop and they will rock an indoor or outdoor party. Great speakers all around.

Which pair of inexpensive Amazon tripods did you buy for this unit? Link please..

I bought the Amazon basics aluminum 2 pack for $31.62 back in May of this year. I just looked them up and now they are $68.59.EEK! Not sure why they more than doubled in price. Confused

I'm kind of disappointed in Sonos. Aside from sonos move (which is $100 more than this), there hasnt been any sale on sonos one/SL. I may pull a trigger on this deal if there isn't any sonos sale on cyber monday.

These things sound absolutely great, but one word of caution - they have no IP (waterproof) rating. That was the deal breaker for me unfortunately. I'll be first in line when they offer the 300 with water proofing though just because of how great these things sound. Thumbs up on the deal.
They do. It is called the 310. Came out a month ago. Great speaker.

My experience with the 300s: I can say these things are good for only one thing: playing one speaker at loud volume while plugged in. Sound quality is noticeably poor and paired speakers will CONSTANTLY go out of sync with each other. I had both replaced by JBL before I realized it was a design flaw and not faulty speakers. The Soundcore Rave manages to sound even worse than the JBLs though.
You can download new firmware to fix the sync issue. Worked for me. https://youtu.be/Q8At8IVK4K4

Will this go on sale again? I opted for the JBL Partybox 300, but the thing is too big. Wanted to get the JBL Partybox 100 instead but see that it's now $100 more.

Anyone know if this will go back on sale?

Regards,

This does not sound better than the 1000. Full stop.

I've compared the 3 (100, 300 and 1000) extensively and own all but the 300 (gave that to my brother, since it overlapped a lot with the 100 and he has a huge yard to try and entertain his teenage kids during covid)

It sounds better at lower volumes than the 300 - definitely.. It also has just as much punch through about 75% of the volume range... but then the 300 runs away with overall loudness if you're trying to fill a bigger space.

You saying it sounds better than the 1000 makes me think you don't actually own nor have ever used the 1000, and only watched that one youtube review with the dude using binaural mics who contrasted them.
Yeah. that comment did not pass the smell test. I DID read in a couple different places where this model sounds BETTER than some of its bigger siblings, but not the 1000. I also read the replacement models (110, 310, etc) sound MUCH better than the previous gen like this, (but of course not on sale).

One more note: I see some people wondering where they would use this. I plan to use mine on my large screened in porch for parties, as well as beside the pool.

However, don't let the size or wattage scare you off in terms of thinking it's "too much". One of the best uses of power when it comes to audio is the ability to play softly, and sound good doing it (being able to clearly hear the nuances of the music or whatever is playing).

This is important especially with A/V receivers and amps, where you may have TONS of available power to shake the walls if you want to, but also and equally important IMO, is being able to hear clearly at low levels (think night time when others might be sleeping).

Example: right now, I use quite an undersize speaker pool-side. In order to be able to hear the music well, I have to crank the volume way up. That introduces all kinds of issues into the audio...hissing, line noise, etc. It can also distort the sound if I go too much. So in theory, you should be able to listen to music at a lower level, and still have it sound good.

I think this is especially important when comparing JBL to its competitors. There are a lot of big boxes out there now, but I still think JBL is among the best at sounding good at all volume levels. I'll often play my 100 at barely a whisper and it maintains the same quality linearly throughout the volume range. I've used some of the other Bluetooth boomboxes from Sony and some of the off brand Chinese makes that sound fairly good when you're really cranking it but sound muddy and unusable at low volumes. That predictable quality is where JBL shines in my opinion
