R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

For those wanting a $25 referral credit after having service for 60 days, make sure you sign up with whatever referral link you find and input your email to get a referral code instantly that you can apply to your account once the service is activated.

Don't make the mistake of getting the referral code after you activate your account because it won't work. Referral codes have to be generated prior to your service being activated.

2nd gen.

If you click on the link from OP. You will see: "iPhone SE is the most powerful 4.7-inch iPhone"

4.7-inch is the newer SE (2020). 1st gen has a smaller 4-inch screen.

No. Out of the box, it will be locked to Cricket. You'll need 6 months of service to unlock.

Deal says it ends 1/7/21, any guesses as to whether they'll continue to have the phones in stock till then?

Wow iphone SE deal keeps getting better.
Wish there's a thread for all SE deals. Just followed the past two days and am pretty confused and unsure which costs the least for unlocking lol is the ATT $149 plus $50 deal not good? People stopped talking about it.

So if I already am on cricket wireless, how can I... ahem, acquire, this phone like the fellas in this thread? Would I need to create a new cricket account, since using my old one I assume the price is a lot higher?

You would just create another account with a different email and refer yourself for the $25 credit. Same billing is fine if you haven't bought tons of Cricket phones this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Assuming you already use Cricket and you want to open a new plan it's still worth referring yourself and paying a second month. $30 (second month) - $25 (referral credit) = $5 (cost) for the second month plus you get another $25 (credit) on your original account. So you end up with $20 bucks in your pocket($25 - $5 = $20) and a free month of service.

As soon as you activate your service you would just downgrade to the $30 plan right away so the initial $60 payment will cover two months of service
