R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

I have a pixel 3 phone which is compatible and also a sprint nano sim, but when I enter it to check it says the sim is not compatible. This is an unused sim, I remember sprint used to support reusable sims. Not sure what might be wrong. PM me if you would like to suggest how to get this done.

Could an existing cricket customer do this deal (assuming they have a number to port in), immediately cancel the new line, and use the phone on an existing line? I'd eat the $60 but that's still way cheaper than anywhere else I could get the SE 2020.
