R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Yes very crappy phone for $109 + $90 for service. Please help all of us by giving us a phone that is comparable, with camera, NFC, PROCESSOR, and 6-10yrs free updates.

1) apple dont give credit for this phone. the credit is for 256gb version, they will deny it for this one on sale
2) crappy phone for $109 + give or take $200 in phone line charges, not really a deal.

3) samsung or any other sites don't have this phone listed for trade in so why ....whhhyy
You are incorrect on the 256gb requirement. It applies to all models.

I have already traded in 1 SE 2nd gen and just submitted another request for trade in. Nowhere does it mention the 256gb requirement.

If your old carrier has last 4 SSN then yes (usually postpaid service) -- if they don't (prepaid usually) then enter anything in there like 0000

When you are confirming the trade request with Phobio, the trade summary does say:
"Device: Apple iPhone SE (2nd Generation) 256GB Verizon - $205"

Wonder if they will quote you lower value if its not 256GB. Hmm....

Silly question but please consider,
What if I don't activate the service, call Cricket to cancel the service and keep this phone for use as Wifi only device? Would they refund $60 for plan that I don't wish to activate?

Any response will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
