R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

There's no point of asking for referral right now... Doesn't apply to your order. Only would want referral when you activate the account/SIM.
But I heard that the referral code needs to be pre-generated for the email you used to sign up for cricket service. If you do it afterwards, it will not be of any use.

Wait so can I just buy multiple of these phones for $110 each (before tax) and then trade them into Apple for the $205 trade in value? Seems too good to be true.

It just needs to be generated before you activate. You can order now and do the referral later.

Are you already a Cricket customer? How many lines are you planning on getting?

Say you are an existing customer and have 2 lines with Cricket. You currently have $70 in your account. If you cancel one of those lines, you will still have the $70 credit in your account.

Now say you have a separate account because of this deal. You pay the $50 for the phone and the $60 for the service. You immediately downgrade that to the $30 plan meaning that the $60 you paid will give you 2 months of phone service.

Now you used your first account to generate a referral code. After the credit goes to the two accounts, $25 on one and $25 on the other, you contact support on your first account and let them know that you have a friend or aunt joining your group plan. Now that second account's credits will be added to your existing account credit. Remember how you had $60 on your first account initially, and then $25 for the referral, and then another $25 for the new referral. That leaves you with $110 in your Cricket account. You can then contact Cricket to cancel one of your lines. Your $110 will still be there for use with your other line(s).
2 new accounts with 2 phones each, total of 4. I got 3 as gifts for xmas & 1 for me. I did not refer myself since I am new & dont have an account yet. Is that possible? I basically want to merge all the credit into one number so I dont have to pay that much to get one phone unlocked.

Thanks for clarifying. One additional question, can a person use the referral code sent to a different email address than the one used for the order?

Yes you can as long as you creatively figure out how to change emails, delivery addresses etc.

If you don't activate the phone and complete the port-in (ie use as a trade-in or wifi device), will Cricket charge you the full price for the phone instead of the discounted $49?

It's prepaid, what you pay is what you pay. You will not be charged extra if you do not activate.

I have 4 lines in t-mobile and I moved 2 lines to cricket with iPhone SE offer by paying $198.

And I want to move remaining 2 lines from t-mobile with same offer on iPhone SE. but with another order it shows Error: only two devices per household is allowed.

I have tried another address also but doesn't work. It throws same error.

Is there any workaround for this???

You just need a code generated before you activate the service

Have you tried talking to support? Or perhaps going to your local Cricket store?
