I would strongly ask you NOT to put your existing SIM in and forget about it, here is my story [I have a lot of respect for energyx esp in cellphone deals which seems to be his / her specialty ] but I'd like to offer my experience , this was 19 months ago
I had done a SIM swap, unlock policy said 12 months, I called at 13 months, they said there is no record of the iPhone being activated. I said I have been using it - and it is active right now - they had nothing to say, just apology, asked me to call apple ... whaaat ? yeah.
but this was almost 2 years ago, here is me hoping cricket is better.
Cricket website shows the countdown of days left to unlock. I've purchased new phones like this deal and inserted existing sim and phone was unlocked 6 months later.

Read the first 36 pages and the last 5 page but this is as close as I will get to find my answer but need confirmation.

Is the unlock policy with Cricket that you must have active service for ~ 6 months so they can unlock it for you? Or is it like Verizon that after 60 days, (in this case ~180 days) then it gets unlocked regardless if no service? Anyone. TIA
I did a bit more research and Cricket actually checks if the phone had active service every day for 180 days straight. Not sure if that means you have to use the phone every day or just has to check into the tower every day but apparently if you move it to another phone it starts over the counter. So you must have active service and can't move the SIM to another phone.

Thank you for the Privacy recommendation. Looks like a cool idea that I will be able to use in other ways. But for today it got me a second order.
Did you use a different shipping address?

well that is good then, glad they updated their tech
the thing that surprised me then was they said the iPhone is not activated and I thought it was pretty easy to check if a Apple device is currently active via IMEI
they had no record

Not true. I leave the phones I get for unlock powered off most of the time. As long as that sim stays in that phone and doesn't register with another IMEI, the countdown of days to unlock continues whether powered on or not.

This is not the case with Cricket. Once activated, the days to unlock countdown continues even if the phone stays powered off most of the time. As long as the SIM doesn't register with another IMEI and the line/account stays paid, the countdown is not interrupted. Also, it allows unlock typically around 175 days which is only 5 months paid. I've done this a couple times in the last year.

Thanks for clarfifying. I guess the key point is the SIM can't be used in any other device and you must keep paying. With MetroPCS in the past you could stop paying and the phone would still automatically unlock in 6 months... but even they closed that process.

I placed one offer earlier today. Is it possible to order another separate order then merge them once I receive them for multi line discount . I can wait till I receive the first Oder the phone add the line but by that phone could be possibly out of stock.

Yes, I shipped it to someone else in my family's house. I couldn't trick their system by changing around my address.

Multi-line discount. You get a $30 break if you have two $60/month lines in your account.

So it's $99.98 for two phones, $90 for first month's service, and the rest is probably taxes/fees.
