R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

Thanks for the reply, so ordering separately seems to be a better strategy.
Does Cricket have limit of 2 orders (if I order 1 phone in each order) or 1 order per address?
If you order 2 lines in a single order, you get a $30 discount as a multi-line discount making the total price for 2 phones $195. Its better to do 2 lines in a single order.

Limit is 2 phones per address but people in the thread have had success in tweaking their address to order additional phones. New card with a new billing address should work without issues though.

Correct. That is the seller I bought from.

Its technically two chips in one. You cut it in half and each can be used on one phone. So its good for two devices.

Which model did you choose for iPhone when buying? Don't see iPhone SE in model options. TIA!

If you plan to trade in the phone, do you still need to activate it on cricket?
No. Did trade in with T-Mobile without activating. Did not even turn on the phone.

I just went through the steps and have an instant new number with Tello, but it's not accepted by Cricket when I type it in. Does it take a while for Cricket to recognise the number?
Tello numbers worked smoothly. No problems at all for myself and friends.

I have 2 lines in one account as well. If i port out/cancel the secondary line before 2nd month renewal fee hits, do i still get the $25 referral credit? (Primary line of that account still stay tho).

Yes you should as long as at least one line stays on account.

Anyone ever ported TFW (Net10, Simple Mobile, Total Wireless, etc.) numbers before? Read online it says last 15 digit of the SIM card is your account number... and pin is the pin you set up during activation. Is that true? Thanks!

*edit* finally got my bricked phone to go into dfu recovery mode. thanks for the help everyone

I hate to ask like a noob but was wondering if someone could help as I have never been in this situation. my iPhone 7 I have on boost crapped out on me yesterday. It won't boot or turn on due to what appears to be a corrupt update. my Apple ID is tied to that phone and that line due to two factor authentication, so I can't access my device at all to approve login requests from other devices. Luckly I did make a backup on iTunes. What are the odds I'll run into any issues if I try to port in my number from boost to get in on this deal? considering my iPhone 7 is completely bricked. Won't hold a charge anymore, won't go into recovery mode, nada. I tried login in with my apple account on a clean iPhone 6 and right away it texted the verification to my 7 which is bricked

I don't know much about bricked iphone but if your new phone bricks then you can claim warranty and seek their help to restore from itunes. Maybe battery for 7 was faulty that it died while updating or maybe something else bu i don't think restoring from itunes will brick another phone.
