R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

I purchased two phones in one order, it only asked me the account information for the first number I ported in. Where do I put in the account number and pin for the 2nd line?? Now the order has been submitted but they don't know the information for the 2nd line...

This thread is moving quick. Read a couple pages back. Answered clearly.

"3. If you have 2 phones in your order, they only ask you one of the port-in number's account and pin info. After an hour of placing the order, you'll get an email asking you for the Account number of the 2nd number. It asks you enter only the account number. Once you submit that, you'll get another email. When you click on it, it asks for the PIN. If you don't want to wait, just click on the same Update info link you get in the first email again and it'll ask you for the PIN. "

Can someone answer these 2 questions for me?
1. Can I trade-in these SEs for $205 at apple store and get GC if I am not ready to buy yet?
2. If I want to buy 2 phones, (not keeping it, but for trade-in) is it better to buy in one order or two separate orders?
TIA

What about the PIN #? I already have a PIN # for myself. If I create a new line, will it be the same PIN as mine, or it is 0000 ?
For Tello the account numbers are the same for all lines on the account -- you can add a new family line one at a time by logging in and going to Family Plan page

They don't assign pin so you can use 0000 as mentioned on the port out page -- I went ahead and used the account security pin they send in the welcome email instead

On my Cricket order it was both Tello numbers and the same account number/pin -- order just shipped out without issue

Not sure about Apple Store, but online trade in allows you to just trade the phone and get a gift card to use later.

I personally ordered individually, but might be cheaper to purchase both in same order to build a family bundle line discount, think it's like $90 for 2 lines.

Depends on the store (call and find out) -- do it online if store says no

Single order to save on service cost ($60+$30) -- use $20 off promo in cart making it $170+tax for both

PLEASE help me to understand, So if I have 4 iphone SE (2020). I go to apple store they will give me 4*$210=$840 apple gift card and I can use it to buy any unlocked iphone and pay the difference if it cost more than $840. Is it that simple or I have to buy with a carrier plan with it? Did I miss here something?

Previous users mentioned that the store will only allow one trade in per purchase. I think this all depends on the store and employee that you get.

Bringing 4 phones in one shot can raise some flags. Some employees may not care though.

It'll most likely be $210 + $205 x 3 = $825 and pay the difference. But trade in most likely varies store to store, as I think most Apple employee thinks that normally you would only use one phone to trade in at the time of purchase, not 4 phones.

When purchasing the new iPhone, your trade in value becomes $210. But when doing a regular trade in for gift card, the trade in value is $205.

I am trying to figure out if these steps would work:
- Buy the phone from Cricket
- Use referral
- Downgrade from $60 to $30 on first day
- Keep the plan for 6 months

I want to give away my phone to my daughter. But she is already in a pre-paid plan that is paid for 1 year. So instead i will port my number from Sprint and keep the service on cricket for 6 months. And give phone to my daughter using rsim. I hope only service needs to be active on cricket. Need not be on same phone.

Can someone confirm the following:
- Downgrading to $30 plan still allows me to unlock the phone after 6 months
- I just need to keep service for 6 months. It need not be on the same phone (?)

You can downgrade plan to $30 on day one and still start the countdown timer.
I would suggest you keep the SIM in the same phone or put it aside and not touch it, as I popped out the SIM and put it into my Galaxy Z Flip last night and Cricket already removed the iPhone SE from the unlock portal and account.
