R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

I used an incorrect email ID on my order. I need to update it. Has anyone else been in this position ? Would cricket support be helpful in doing this ?

For now, I can check my order status online but I would be more comfortable with the correct email address on file.

No choice but the $60 plan and a number to port.

thanks - what's the best way to get a number to port that works and is cheapest - let me know if there is a seller that is good.

also i keep reading that you can drop the $60 plan to $30 - is that still applicable?

Just bought a phone but have few questions (I know in wiki but I got little bit confuse)

1. Paid for the phone : $50 + $60 - $20 off = $90. Is it right?
2. When I got the phone, I will activate with $25 referring code and down grade to $30 plan?

TIA

Hello, sorry to make this thread even bigger, I have reed a lot this post but my problem is that I have had placed 4 times and order for 2 iPhones SE in the las 3 days and every order has been canceled, I have 2 boost mobile numbers from eBay to port to cricket, I even have had used twice the cricket seller live help to guide the purchase and also to help me to confirm the account number and pin from both numbers to port, both times CSR said I am all set, but after some hours or next day I receive a email order cancellation saying: We were unable to verify the information you provided, so we have canceled your order. Any ideas? TIA

Thanks. This is a deal breaker for me Mad
actually I'm going to do something similar but not exactly the same and base on what I read so far what I'm proposing to do should work. So basically the sim doesn't need to be in the phone for 6 months it just needs to not be place in another phone within that 6 months and the service be active. So what I'm going to do is activate the cricket service on the phone and keep the service active for 6 months, take the cricket sim out of the phone but do not use it or put it in any other phone. I'm going buy an rsim and use that in the new IPhone with a different carrier sim for 6 months. Once the 6 months is over I'll request an unlock then I can use the other carrier sim without the rsim on the Iphone. Generally if you are willing to waste the 6 months service You can just get an rsim and put your daughter's sim in the Iphone let her use it for the 6 months until it's time to request an unlock. You yourself can't use the cricket sim otherwise the phone will not be eligible for an unlock.

Update:
forgot mention it might not work if your daughter's sim is already a cricket sim.

Dropping the plan is for long-term users who want to keep the phone on Cricket for 6 months to unlock.

If you have a sprint phone and sprint sim card laying around, best to go with Tello. Not sure about eBay.

1. Correct.
2. Go find a link and register for a referral code (eBay, reddit, etc.) using the same email you purchased from. When you get the phone, activate and create an account, go downgrade the plan from $60 to $30 2gb/mo and enter in the referral code in the xtras section.

Most likely it's port issue... Wrong pin, zip code, account number, etc.
