Thanks.
I would like the SE to be unlocked, but don't want to use cricket service on SE.
So what are best steps considering this.
Note that I want to use cricket on iphone 6s.
Is it best to activate first on SE by inserting sim into SE, then downgrade plan to $30.
After that wait for any messages from cricket? and then put the same Sim in Iphone 6s?

Does it work such that SE gets unlocked after 6 months even though cricket was used on iPhone 6s?
That will not work. The sim MUST be in the iPhone SE for the 6 months. Once you pop out the sim from the iPhone SE, your account will update and remove the device from the unlock timer as far as I can tell after testing it two times so far. At this point, you pretty much buy this phone and set it aside for 6 months if you want to unlock it, but need to pay for 4 months of service.

If I want to go to the Apple site and trade in this phone with the T-mobile additional trade promotion, this should just work with the one month of service, right? I read some folks were trading in the phone - I assumed it was straight with Apple.

Thanks

It is at the page where you add phone to the cart. And not at the final checkout page. Try to club with $45 portal back also if you are eligible
What is $45 portal back?

oh. that sucks.. We can't set aside iphone SE for later use or give to family members.
I don't want to trade-in to apple, but want to continue using current 6s as well.

May be he/she was referring to wikibuy + $20 check out coupon?
If not, I would like to know as well.

Yes, you don't even need to activate service if you don't want to.. But just do it to be safe to meet the terms and condition. If you want to be generous to others, consider using someone's referral and downgrade your service from $60 to $30/mo (60 days) so the other person can get the $25 referral credit for future renewals even though you don't plan on using Cricket.
