Great quality. Pricey. I have a large collection of cast iron from various tiers, enameled, and not. All are decent. The only problem ones are the grills. They are hard to maintain. I personally see no reason to spend more than needed. Of all, even my lowest priced, are still in service, now almost 40 years. Yes, the lower priced Chinese enameled ones that have regular use, have minor chips somewhere. Still work fine. Got extra bucks, Staub, Le Creuset are very good. I have some. But my Chinese, thinner cast pans, unenameled, Ozark Trail, WalMart clearance set, gets more daily use, cook great, and do suffice without compromise.

the $429 price is misleading. They are good but nobody sells them for $429

Costco has a two pack of Tramontina 5 and 7 qt dutch oven if anyone's looking for more than one. Obviously you're paying for quality here. This one's made in France while Tramontina's made in China.

I love my tramontina stuff but have had some chipping in my older sam's ones. The ones currently at Costco look great - I was surprised the 7qt was as wide and shallow as it is, instead of my older super tall ones in roughly the same size.

Don't know how this compares to tramonita but my Staub french oven is far superior in every way to Lodge with exception to price. This is a fantastic price. Alas, I already own 3 dutch style ovens.

Compared to Le Creuset, this is also made in France, black enamel interior (vs white), metal handle on lid (vs plastic), heavier, side handles are smaller, dimpled "self basting" lid.

Eesh, just bought a 3.5qt le creuset a month ago for $179.99. Nice colors in stock at the moment for $149.99, some of the less popular $99.99.

I have a Le Creuset version of this (tempting to buy this one but I think I would be killed by my GF). I use mine for almost everything. Pasta boiling, making chili, soups, stews, one pot meals, etc.

Just made Zuppa Toscana in mine last night.
