I think this is one of the better deals you'll find for a mid-range gaming laptop. The Omen is extremely well-reviewed and known for good build quality and thermals. Since it comes with 16 GB of 3200 RAM and a 1 TB SSD, you don't need to spend any extra money on upgrades like you do with a lot of other mid-range laptops. While it may be tempting to purchase a system with an RTX 2060 or better, in this price range, those will always come with some compromise (poor display, limited RAM/storage, poor build quality, etc.). The 1660ti is not too far below the 2060 and the small drop is well worth everything else about it being exactly what you want in a gaming laptop.

Just as a comparison, Best Buy also has the Asus TUF with the same CPU and an RTX 2060 for just $800. But that laptop is known for terrible thermals and terrible display on top of needing around $75 or so in upgrades to get to the same RAM and storage as the Omen. So really, it's not a great deal. I know, because I bought the TUF, returned it, and am now ordering the Omen after reading numerous reviews.
Sure if you lookup Jarrod's Tech he does a good in-depth comparison on this and the Legion 5. Essentially this is smaller and better looking but the Legion performs better, sometimes significantly so for having identical specs because you can disable Nvidia Optimus which allows your GPU to connect directly to your display instead of going through the iGPU.

Legion has a better display, with larger freesync range, omen has better battery life vs the 60kwh Legion but you can swap in an 80kwh battery on the legion and then battery life will then exceed the omen.
Agreed. You can absolutely find a 2060 for this price, but not with this quality of CPU, this quality of display, and actually having 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The Omen sort of has everything you need without needing to upgrade parts. I previously purchased the $800 Asus TUF with the same CPU and a 2060 and ended up returning it because the display was so bad and it overheated like crazy. The Omen is known for good build quality, so I don't expect the same issues.

IMO its on par with the G14 for $250 less!
2060 to 1660ti is only a few frames difference, RTX being the main draw.
The omen has a bigger screen plus can be upgraded more with ram and SSD space.
The G14 has slight better battery life but can get pretty hot because of its small form factor.
If I didn't know this was going on sale I would have bought the G14.
Both great Laptops

Considering RTX 2060 and possibly 2070 can be had for the same price. Not sure $950 for 1660Ti is a good deal as it once was.

2060 for this price, but not 2070. $200 more for a 2070. But you're getting a better processor with this. And the 1660ti is really close to the 2060 on performance.
