Build quality seems better on the roborock. Only thing i can comment on since I didnt technically try the t8, but looked at one at the store.

Does hair get caught up in these rollers easily? If so, is it a pain to remove the hair? For example, I won't have to whip out a razor blade to remove some tangled hair I hope.
The Roborocks have two nice features [wish.com] in that regard.
1) The ends of the brush roller pop off, so any "rings" of hair that have gotten tangled on the ends just slide off (I wish my Dyson stick vac had that feature!).
2) They come with a cleaning brush stored under the lid, with what I would describe as like a letter opener blade. If hair or strings get tangled around the roller brush, you slide this across the brush to slice through and loosen it up and off.

S6Pure Vs S4Max

So here is what im looking for
Decent Vacuum under 300
Has mapping
No Go Zone so it doesn't go over carpet that cannot be vacuumed
I dont need a Mop

Everyone is saying jump on the S6Pure since its cheaper than S4Max right now and dont use the mopping

But on amazon

S6pure $391.94 after tax
S4Max $348.39 after tax

Im confused.
Quote from wildta :
I'm debating btwn these two models as well. I just read this so I'm guessing the S6 pure also doesn't return to the dock to charge up and finish a job after reaching 80% but maybe an owner on here can respond to that feature:

One feature that it doesn't have compared to the likes of the S5 Max and the S6 Max is that it will not top-up its charge to complete a job - on those more expensive models they return to the dock when they are running out of power, get to 80% and pick up where they left off.

The S4 Max is a superb pound-for-pound option for anyone looking beyond the bargain basement models on offer in the ever expanding world of robot cleaners; it hits the perfect sweet spot of price and performance.

https://www.the-ambient.com/guide...ersus-2311

Edit, this video review of the S4 Max says it will go back to the dock to recharge and resume cleaning afterwards: https://youtu.be/PM_e0AAJZmE?t=228

This is the best comparison sites of side-by-side features I've seen for robot vacuums:
https://smartrobotreviews.com/com...,2778,2840
https://vachq.com/roborock-s4-max...ck-s6-pure

I'm torn between the S4 Max and S6 Pure solely because the S4 Max is the latest one (came out in Oct 2020) and I can't find any definitive reviews about any improvements implemented since the S6 Pure came out (Jan 2020). I'm so torn that I just ordered both but the S4 Max won't arrive until Dec 17ish.
A lot of these comparison sites just plain get it wrong. They race to publish content as soon as a model number is released, before they've even gotten their hands on one, so that they can get a jump on search engine optimization.
All of the newer Roborock models (including S4 Max and S6 Pure) have top-up charging capability, but honestly, they have such long battery life, and create such efficient vacuuming paths, that most people won't even need this feature. If you have a big home, you might need it when it maps your home for the first time, or if you have lots of levels and want to do the levels all back to back on the same day, or if you have tons of new obstacles introduced to navigate around when it's doing a full house cleaning.

As for pricing, the prices have been fluctuating. The S6 Pure was cheaper than the S4 Max for a little while, then the S4 Max came back in stock and had a $110 discount. You can search Slickdeals to see the lowest historic price for each model ($320 for the S4 Max, $360 for the S6 Pure), and have some confidence that those prices will return occasionally.

Finally, I can state with confidence that the S4 Max and the S6 Pure are virtually identical, except for the added mop on the S6 Pure. They have the same dimensions, same charging dock, same battery, same vacuum power, same climbing and cleaning ability, same edge sensors and object avoidance capability, same app features.

Purchased the s4 max two weeks and I still can't believe how sophisticated this technology is. Our first floor is 4000 sqft and it can probably vacuum half of it in one go. we have rooms with the thick carpets and it does a respectable job cleaning them. The mapping is just mind boggling. It has created a blueprint of our house and I labeled every room. I just select the room or tell Siri which room to vacuum and it just goes and vacuums it. I set up a schedule to have it clean the kitchen every night when everyone is asleep. This is probably the most futuristic piece of technology I have ever owned

I was confused between this and 360 S7 but pulled the trigger on 360 S7 from target for 285+ tax. 360 S7 will be arriving in couple of days.

Also Amazon was showing this to me for $319 -$30 clipped coupon few days back during thanksgiving weekend.

First run ever - finished in 40 minutes (800 sq ft apt) and got a lot of gunk up, was slightly louder than I expected but not too bad. The dog barked at it for the first 15 minutes. Overall got pretty precise/close to everything and the map looks cool - very accurate

Random silly question - I HATE the base with the hanging cable wrapped up; totally ruins the aesthetic for me - I saw the S6 and some other highest end models have the base that actually lets you push the excess cable inside. Annoyed this doesn't. Does anyone know if any of the other models bases will work with the S6? Or any creative ways to hide the cable - short of a tv cable type cover strip?

Thank you for your responses along with everyone else in this thread. I rarely read thru entire threads but this discussion, was without a doubt, very informative with anecdotal opinions and reasons to help me figure out the best product for my needs. Now I just need to figure out of $40 is worth the price if "dragging a wet cloth across the floor."

Does anyone know if Roborock can be programmed to clean when you and your wife are away from the house based on Geofence? Similar to how a smart thermostat would turn off your HVAC when both phones leave the house.

Not natively, i don't believe so. However, it integrates with Alexa and other smart devices so you could probably figure out how to accomplish this through a smart hub like Hubitat, Smarthings, etc. It's definitely not set and go though.

How long does it take to charge the battery? It's been sitting on the charger for three hours and still not charged yet after it ran out when it was cleaning

I switched to S6 pure from roomba i4 (costco version) and happy with its performance! In first run mapping was excellent with those LIDAR it captures every part of the boundary without hitting (i4 would hit and map). I feel cleaning is good and not excellent as it left few smaller particles. It is similar with any other robot vacuums I assume. Setup was super easy with Roborock app. I didn't attach the mop yet as I don't need mopping but will give a try.
S4 max vs S6 pure - Both are identical in terms of hardware, firmware , sensors with only differences s4 max 50$ less and S6 pure with mopping feature. Though S4 max was released recently it has no difference in hardware used.
Cons:
Charging time - Not a major thing if you are scheduling your clean routines
Bin full notification - I don't know if it notifies or stop if the bin is full . I4 does. Can anyone confirm.

Huge difference... I got the Roomba i8+ from Costco. It has to hit and map since no LIDAR. I had it for 2 complete map run and a few times of cleaning but still not able to get accurate map. There is one room had wrong entry and it just tried to entry at that place again and again where it is wall. I'm going to delete the map and do map run again Mad

Also the iRobot home app was down most of time yesterday.

Too bad Costco doesn't have Rockrobot!

S4 max is based on the Chinese P5 model which is almost physically identical with the bottom plate "mop connection" removed as the only real change.

S6 pure is the P5 but with a different top plate design for global market. Not sure why they have to rebrand and change things but I guess thats how it goes.

A major benefit of the S4 MAX is that you get 2 filters to interchange and wash during down cycles. S6 pure only includes 1 filter.

I also have a Roomba i3 (Which is basically the i4 with a smaller battery) and I feel like the Roomba is a better cleaner as a trade off. Roborock vacs are good on hard floors, but they're noticeably worse on carpet. Its night and day for my big black rugs..

Thats the only thing I hate about roborock. (And no, mine doesn't have the brush issue where it doesn't spin, its just worse at carpet agitation compared to an "I" series Roomba design).

Edit: Yes the roborock is a significantly faster vacuum, but it rushes the job more so than a Roomba. Literally speed demons across all my floors and misses some fine debris which would otherwise be picked up by a slower vac.

The cons of the Roomba is that a 1hour 20min Roborock job takes literally 3-5 hours to complete on the i3+... But its obviously a better cleaning job on all surface types regardless of the outdated sensory hardware on the Roomba. It moves around slower and picks up WAY more stuff....

Tough choice.
