Do not buy an ultrawide monitor for a console. ESPECIALLY this monitor. You won't be able to use any of the features that make it so expensive like the 32:9 aspect ratio or the 240hz refresh.

Everyone says the LC49G97TSSNXDC model is newer but I am having a hard time confirming that information from a legit Samsung source.

was 1249 on samsung yesterday, after student/EPP discount it's 1049 (+$50 cb from cashback site+5% PP from chase freedom+YMMV cancelation trick $100), so it could be had around 850 or so. if you want to take a risk not buying from amazon at this price, can probably wait for samsung as it comes back/out of stock from time to time.

Samsung's own website only shows the newer model and delisted the model in the OP.

Honestly at this price it's worth the risk to just buy and return if any issues... especially if you end up with the old model and can register with a 3 year warranty. I was planning on getting the Lg 38gl950g but at $1600 forget that mess...
