How does this compare to the other HP Spectre deal on the 15 inch from Best Buy? I can't tell what the differences are between the two, if any.

Holy moly.. this is a good laptop... How's the price??? Do you guys think we can do better???
I bought this laptop for about $100 less last year in December but didn't get the 4K ips screen..... for price comparison. This is a pretty good deal as the screen is worth more than the difference i paid.

What about the heat? Does this one cook your shorts like most ultrabooks? Or does it actually run fairly cool?
Its hot when it gets going. For normal activity it works great but intensive tasks will cook.

FWIW its very hard to cram so much into a small form factor (bezel is about .5 inch thick at the keyboard including key height) without having trouble dispersing heat. You get a lot of powerful specs in this machine for the size and weight.

Having used this same machine (minus the screen and upgraded to octane memory) for about a year. Have to say I love it. Best laptop I've owned. While software isn't up to speed yet to handle the 2 in 1 market fully (keyboard popup during tablet mode), this is easily the most versatile device I've used. The tablet mode is great and the desktop mode has the power you need to run resourxe heavy apps and games.

Not without its faults (does get warm and the tablet issue mentioned) but is all around solid.

Dont ever use user benchmark. They are very biased against AMD CPUs and if they lie about that can you even trust thei reviews of CPUs in general?
I have read the same, but the comparison is for two different intel processors. Any review can be biased and individuals should take that in to account.

This has better CPU 10510U vs 10750H and better graphics MX330 vs GTX 1650 Ti. Battery life ~7 hrs by reports ( some said 5 ).

Edit: found more battery life reports

You did not even consider the CPU performance. 4 Core 15W U series CPU vs 6 Core 45W H series CPU
oh whoops good catch! Just saw the i7 and automatically assumed it was the 10750H!

Be sure to opt for 32gb optane with 512 SSD which is free upgrade, recommend adding $50 more for 400 nit panel that should improve outdoor visibility.
Optane memory is not having good write speed. Even the HP sales guy asked to order the M2 drive. I have seen that mentioned by some reviewers as well. The 400 nits Non OLED panel option is better and it has a good battery life.

I was going to buy this at Best Buy but it's heavy af. I decided not to buy. However, with the upgraded graphics, you can't beat the price.

Could anyone use the coupon? It seems that it is not working here.
if you have a student account it won't work

Edit: just did both options, it's cheaper to log out of account and order with the coupon code vs the student option.

No, don't go for that at all. That SSD is Intel H10 SSD which is a QLC drive without DRAM cache and uses the optane memory for caching. There is a reason why I haven't selected that.
The selected SSD here is a TLC SSD, either a Samsung PM981 or a Toshiba drive, with DRAM cache and performs better.

That is the Ultrabook version whereas this is the Powerful Productivity version, similar to XPS 15 but in a 2-in-1 360 degree design.

That Model has a quad core 15W TDP i7-10510U and a very low end MX330 Graphics card which are Ultrabook level hardware, suitable for day-to-day tasks like browsing, streaming media, documentation and may be some very basic photo and video editing. However, due to the lower spec hardware, it will give you better battery life. You can do some gaming but at very low settings for any modern games and probably in 720P.

This model on the other hand, has a 45W TDP 6 Core Core i7-10750H which you normally see in the gaming laptops and nearly 50% faster than those U series Processors. Similarly, the GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q is like over 50% to 100% more powerful than MX330.
Because of the combo of powerful CPU and GPU, you can do a lot of demanding tasks in this machine, like 4K Video Editing, rendering, Video Encoding, Huge Code Compilation etc. You can even do gaming at 108P with decent settings.
But it will have shorter battery life over the BestBuy version due to having much poweful components.
This is a good info. Any advantage of spectre deal from bestbuy at all..like better heat handling (except 20 odd dollars?). And also does HP charge restocking fee for the returns? Their website is vague, pls share your experience, if any. Thanks!

I tried to do the same thing. Education discount and coupon can't be stacked. Coupon is cheaper.
