Does it have to be an unlocked device. What if I have a tmobile device that is still locked, will that work.
For the last free line, I unlocked my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8 phone using the T-Mobile app 30 mins before going to Costco to do the BYOD and it worked.

If I just need to port a number would I qualify for the $200?
This Costco deal doesn't require porting a number in, just an unlocked GSM compatible phone. However, if you port a number after adding a new line/number at Costco, make sure to use the new port-in number when submitting the rebate or else they will not see the old new number on the new line that is replaced by the port-in number.

1) can it be a phone that's using active Tmobile #, but not being used 99% of the time (just for Tmobile Tuesday)? Since it doesn't require trade in, I don't see why one phone can be used w/ 2 sims right -- switching sim back and forth?
2) can it be a "dumb" or non smart spare phone?
Thanks.

1) Yes, I had an old locked T-Mobile phone that hasn't been used for months and unlocked it 30 mins before going to Costco. The phone doesn't show up on the T-Mobile accounts page since I have other phones that I actively use.
2) Don't know, but probably with a valid IMEI.

Yeah, i know it's confusing but with a new line, you get a new number. The port-in number will replace the new number. Once the new number is replaced, the rebate promo checkers can only see the port-in number since the new number is replaced and gone forever. If you submit the rebate using the new number that is replaced by the port-in number, they can't verify your new line. This only applies if you port in a number.

1- Costco add a line, get $200
2- T-Mobile's $100 port a number from AT&T or Verizon
3- T-Mobile's third line for free
Thanks!
