If I am eligible for the free line and add the line through Costco, how do I ensure that it is the free line? Do I need to call or chat with TMobile to make sure the new line is updated as free line?
They will send you a text regarding free line promo. You can also check your account and look for something along the lines of This Line On Us promo.
The reason why for me was that I didn't want Costco or T-Mobile to know I was double-dipping since no one knew if that would work or was allowed.
Thanks for your response. What I still don't understand is if you submit rebate for Costco new line under new number #1 and then later on change the number as a part of the port in for number #2. Wouldn't Costco's system while they are processing your credit for #1 not see that number since it may have been transferred for #2? Thus voiding the credit?

That's why I said to use the port-in number (#2) that replaced the new number (#1) when submitting the rebate to Costco and T-Mobile. You have to port-in a number before submitting the rebates of course.
You can try to port in at Costco but think it may complicate things for the Costco rep processing the BYOD promo.

If you have a non-Tmo or Sprint (or T-Mo or Sprint MVNO) then by all means do it today. I am going to do it later because I don't have one to port in today and don't want to spend any more time in a Costco the day before Thanksgiving than I need to.

Makes total sense now. Thanks. I reviewed your picture you attached and will be submitting the ported in number in the "Activated permanent phone #" field.
