I don't think it's worth adding Kickback on these free lines. If you have hook-up and stuff, you barely save 6-8$ overall.
There are situations where they would be useful. For instance if I needed to add a paid line to get a phone promo. I can the just use the paid line and not use my free line kickback. This way I can earn $10 kickback on my free line to offset the $16-$20 per month paid line.
But I think eventually they will catch the $10 kickback on my free lines and will remove it.
On the rebate form at my promo choice.com, it asks for wireless number. It doesn't ask for wireless number used in promo or anything like that. Just - wireless number - after name, address, and email implying it just wants the phone number used for contact info
On the printout paper they provide at Costco, everything is spelled out in detail with the parentheses. They tell you where the codes are and what they're from. "IMEI number(written above), Kiosk number(written above)".
The key point here is for "Permanent wireless number" it does NOT say to use the number associated with the promo. All it asks for is a permanent number that isn't temporary. It also adds if it's a tablet promo, then you need to use the associated tablet number. But it doesn't say that for non tablets.
So I just wrote alot of words explaining that I'm quite convinced there is no where on the printed sheets or the form we fill out that we need to submit the new number we just activated and/or will port in over
Is it a better idea to initiate the port while adding the line in Costco - to help stack both the $200 and $100 offers? Please confirm..I am at the store
Damn... that's a long shot !
Folks are worried about getting the $200 from Costco with the Free Line promo and you are trying to skim $100 on top of it...might not fly in my opinion... but good luck from all of us !!!
Ok, my own experience, for those who take advantage of the alleged extension:
-Existing TMO account (2 paid, 1 free)
-Existing Costco member
-Costco BYOD $200
-TMO $0 add a line
-Not porting
-Not trading
-No device purchase deal
Costco 1: out of TMO sims
Costco 2: SIGN INTO THE WAITING LIST and get someone to confirm they still have TMO sim cards before you waste your time. I tried calling both ahead of time, and neither would answer.
Total wait/service time, 2 HOURS and I was only 2nd, and there were 3 reps.
Make sure you know your TMO ACCOUNT PIN, _not_ your phone password pin. Rep will need it. Mine failed, had to call in to TMO support, and wait for 10 minutes for agent to reset it.
I DIDN'T mention the free line at all. I just said the "$200 add a line promo".
I don't have access to my new phone IMEI yet, so I dug out a super old Nokia. They said NO because the BYOD "needs a smart phone for the number to activate". I offered my iPhone 7+, already on TMO, and offered to wipe it and pull current sim on the spot (I backed it up before coming, in case this came up). They said NO because "it will still show up as existing/current" on my account. Rep was smarter than me and saw my iPhone 12 Pro and told me to just use the eSIM if I hadn't yet. I TOTALLY FORGOT I HAD SIM -AND- eSIM. Yes my iPhone 12 is locked, but to TMO, so I suspect it will be a non-issue.
So in order to maintain $200 eligibility, we used the eSIM IMEI, and I am leaving the new line on that phone until $200 received. You can find your iPhone eSIM IMEI a few lines down from the SIM IMEI in iOS settings. They still gave me a new physical SIM card for my eventual new device after I receive my $200. They told me not to risk switching phones before getting the $200. I'm honestly not sure what eSIM new line functionality I will have yet, but my concern for now was just getting the $200 and the $0 new line.
While processing my order, my account wouldn't show up in system, but my old (7yrs) closed one did. Rep had to call TMO agent to complete process. While agent on speakerphone, agent told rep my new line is $0. Rep didn't understand. Agent told him again. I told him 3rd time. He had no idea about $0 add a line. I wasn't planning on telling him either, just to make it simple. Yes, deal fine print and rebate fine print say "can't combine", but agent said it already did on its own. YMMV.
Handed me copies of all docs. Instructed me to use new phone number and eSIM IMEI on the rebate form. I submitted rebate quickly as I read others were having "already submitted" issues. No issues for me.
I know other people got conflicting instructions. I'm just posting how it went for me.
Update:
Just now (13 hours later), got a confirmation SMS from TMO saying thank you for adding 1 line, and providing a link to order details. No info which line it cane in on, SIM or eSIM.

I already seeing on my t-mobile account as "2020 Line on Us 3"
i have t-mobile ONE, 12th line... thus NO Taxes/Fees.
sweet!
now just need to wait until Nov 2021 and figure out how to move existing line on top of the FREE lines. aka, port-out and port-back-in since now "2020 Line on us 2" and "2020 line on us 3" i'm certain were added at Line-level, not account-level sucks.
my "2020 line on us" #1 was added at account-level.
anyone can share a light, what is the cheapest to port-out t-mobile and port-back in? i need to keep my permanent numbers. but don't need the FREE line # yet.
What's the difference between line level and account level? And how can you tell?

You'll have to look at few past T-Mobile bills, the PDF versions. If you have line level promo, you'll see cost of that line adjusted accordingly, meaning free line would be $0. If you have account level promo, you will see usual charge for the line for example $20, but amount of promo is adjusted against plan price.
I just check my art payoff phone is not unlocked will there be any issue for my gift card?
If the Costco rep when entering the imei didn't come back saying it can't be used then it went through with them and you should be fine to submit the rebate form and get it approved. Make sure you submit the rebate form with correct imei and control number with its phone number
Did anyone add a line yesterday and not see the "2020 Line on Us 3" yet? I messaged T-Mobile about it and the said it would appear on the next bill. My previous ones showed up almost immediately........

They can pull up those forms again from your order info and reprint it for you on next working day.
You can submit the online forms within 30 days from the activation day.
But you have to go back to Costco to get the details/docs reprinted for you
If the port is done after you came back home and Costco doesn't has it then it won't work is my understanding
Did you get the rebate papers back?
The number that matters is on the top right corner of the print out you may have received form Costco
We have to see if it's showing up in membership wireless site or someone have to confirm when they see this in Costco on Friday
