For those of you wondering if the promo is tied to the original phone, the answer is no.

My Costco rep told me the sim can be used on any device after it's activated on the BYOD phone. The IMEI is just for filling out the promo form, and as long as the line is active, you'll get your Costco GC.

Also if you want to stack with the free Pixel 4a promo, make sure you call TMO as soon as you finish activating the new line. My TMO rep told me it's eligible as long as the promo is added within the allowed time frame, he didn't specify how long the time frame is, but I'd assume within 24 hours - 48 hours because I was in a similar situation earlier this year and was able to add the free iphone XR promo a day after I activated a new line.

I do not know. As I said, my past experience was adding a device a day after I activated a new line. This time was done on the same day. The TMO rep didn't specify how long the time frame is.

That's my SOC. Dude was FOS...I would have just lied and said 'but I DO have Magenta'...indeed it's not of his business which plan you have when you add a line, it just so happens to be free during this promo (certain SOC's). The only concern I faced adding a line was the 'smartphone' requirement to satisfy the BYOD on the rebate from...he showed me the screen that specifically forbade the 'feature phone' I was trying to use (Alcatel Flip phone, that I give to my workers), so I ran out to the truck and grabbed a spare 'smartphone' to complete the free line w/BYOD rebate.

Best bet is to go in and ask! I went in today and got a free line / qualified for the 200 Costco card.

I am on a grandfathered simple choice plan. I did not port in anything — new number generated.

I also had an old iPhone and was able to provide that as an IMEI. not sure what the guy would have done if I didn't have another IMEI laying around.. he did mention that if it changed, I should go back and update my record.
