The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

Ok thanks for confirming that I can't use the free lines to ever lower my plan cost.

Are there any other uses for the fee line? Do they still have the car plugin thing or anything else like similar that can be put on a free line? Can't use it for a watch, right? iPad?

People... Focus...

The question has been asked multiple times on how exactly do you verify that the promotion went through. When checking out and paying $10 for a SIM card, it shows that the monthly plan will be $20 per month. So does the discount apply when activating the SIM card?

LOL ! Smilie I was also going to ask how do you verify.. I see no where that the line is being added for free. I haven't recieved any email or banner anyway for free line promo.

Im on T-Mobile One Military with 2 lines. Was able to get the free line with $10 Sim card shipped, Free 5 day shipping. And $20 service charge waived.

Will this new line be T-Mobile One including 4G unlimited data? or Voice only?
It should take on the characteristics of your plan. So if your plan includes 4G Unlimited Data, then this new line gets that too.

After a year, you can cancel your paid lines and keep your free ones (just keep two paid ones on the account to maintain the free lines).

If you're trying to keep the phone numbers, then you'll likely have to port them out and then back in replacing the free line numbers. Not sure anyone's confirmed if that works though.
Interesting, I can look into that as an option, sounds like a real pain, but converting 2 lines to free is good savings. I wonder if anyone has done that.

Being told have to move of NAFUTT4 to T-Mobile one essentials to get the promo. Cost goes up unless I do auto pay. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Verified that my super old account was eligible. Had to call and they verified as well, added line and had a sim available, free line is active and ready to go. I did ask if it was voice or data also. Said it's whatever the plan is for free. Done deal, thanks op

On a side note I don't have autopay and they said I didn't need to activate autopay either. Account is like 10 years old

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank Look4deals2020

To those that see $20/month charge like me when add a line. Here is a response I just went thru with a rep:

"Yes, $20.00 is what the normal price of that additional line would be. But with that promotion you will get a monthly bill credit of $20.00 to cover the cost of that line. The system will automatically apply that credit and promotion when that line is activated."

Hope that help.🤝

You can use the sim on the iPad but the speed will be throttled, fast enough to watch youtube but mot as fast as on your phone. You can add someone you know to the plan and let them share the cost. Make sure to tell them they will lose the number when they want to quit because you cannot port out the number on free line or you lose it

Wow, that's a pretty big negative regarding the free number. I was unaware. If I port my parents to my TMobile account free lines and then they want to go to Verizon one day, the can't take their numbers?

I called and they said my 'Simple Choice Family Plan' is eligible, now on way to Costco to see what they have to say.
Can you report back and let us know? I'm going to costco in an hour as well. I wonder how informed those CS at the booth are for this promo.

Do we have to go through a rep or can line be added to the account from the T-Mobile app?

Does it work on magenta military 4-lines/$100?
I can't answer that for sure, but it appears my T-Mobile ONE Military plan (SOC: TMSERVE2) is not eligible according to the list of eligible SOC in the original post.

Here is what I did to get the code:
Login to: https://my.t-mobile.com/account/account-overview
In Edge browser, right-click and choose "inspect"
Select "Network" and below that "XHR"
Refresh the page
In the data that comes back, select "manageaccount"
Look for "ratePlans" and in that data, find the "code"
I believe that value associated with "code" is the SOC code referenced in the OP

The process would be similar for Chrome browser
