Thanks so much for the heads up on the Newegg price drop for BF and for the Steam credit promotion! Much appreciated for my son's holiday gaming build!!!
Any AMD Ryzen 3xxx and 5xxx should be fine for CPU. You can grab any Nvidia or AMD Radeon graphics card well.
With the gains on the 5 series over the 3XXX, I personally think it's worth it to wait if you're doing a new build. However, stock is extremely limited. We might not see wide availability until 2021.

I concur, but it depends on the budget. Limited stock and price higher than $400 could be out of reach for a lot of people on a budget. Person does not state budget nor purpose, hence I gave a broad advice.
People can wait until next year, but with Newegg return policy recently, I rather not buy a motherboard now only to find it defective next year.

Yep agreed with all points as well. I will probably wait for next gen (after AM4) since I already have the 3600x and I don't want to buy a motherboard that will be EOL soon. It would be great if AMD supports AM4 past 2020 but I won't count on it.

I'm confused with the branding format of AMD Ryzen. Does Ryzen 5 3600 belong to 5 series or 3xxx series?

It is a bit confusing. Ryzen 3600 belong to the 3XXX series. The 4XXX are essentially laptop variants of the 3XXX series. Both of which are part of the Zen 2 family.
Zen 3 are the new chips which uses the designated 5XXX moniker.

Hope this helps.
The number after the ryzen is the different tiers they have for the same series. Its like the i5 or the i7 from Intel.
