Experience greater power, range, and speed. With an internal and external lithium ion battery, ES4-800 has a top speed of nearly 15.5 mph and a range of up to 28 miles. The bar for high-performance e-scooters has been raised.

These were built as "rental" scooters. The "R" in the serial number stands for RENTAL.

Bird loaded custom firmware disabling the Bluetooth features, and they will not connect to the app.

You need to flash or replace the dashboard.

Only 5-10% of posters on this thread can connect to the app...

I have 3 of these purchased in the last 2 weeks and they do not connect to the app.

Just got mine setup and went for a test ride. Mine came in the bird box. The Segway app connected straight away. Speedo is in MPH. I had an issue with the Nine Dash app. It wouldn't connect at first, or 2nd, or onto about the 20th time though the Segway one would. I noticed the Nine Dash had filtering enabled. I undid that and it found the scooter but so far won't pull any data.

Cruise control works after enabling in the Segway app. Set the brakes to max regen and that might be a bit too much. Like everyone else the firmware won't update past 47% and then dies. All the lights seem to work. Scooter is an absolute steal for the money. My app said it had only been used .7 km (so about .4 miles). It looks brand new.

One thing to keep in mind, non-pneumatic tires (meaning solid, with no air pressure) are treacherous as hell when the road is wet. Those painted lines are bad when dry, and like oil on ice when wet. Take it super easy if turning when it is wet.

The nice thing is these tires don't get flats but ride quality also suffers. So if it is misty, rainy, wet, etc. just slow way down especially when turning. Not sure how waterproof these are. I wish I had bought another one though I already have two very fast scooters (40 and 50 mph respectively). This is just a great beat around scooter. I am fine with the top speed of about 16 mph. Given the small wheels, no suspension, solid tires and small battery pack, it is plenty fast. Going faster will kill the range dramatically anyway. If you want something faster, spend more money and get an Apollo Pro or Ultra, Zero 10X or 11x, Dualtron Thunder, etc. Then you have good suspension, AWD, and amazing acceleration and top speeds of 40 mph and up.

For the money though, this has to one of the best deals I've found on SD that wasn't some total price screw up. I am going to be tracking the site and see if these pop up again. If if the Bluetooth didn't work, and i couldn't connect the app, this thing is solidly built and still a great buy.

I guess i got lucky. Im thinking buying a 2nd one. I think app doesnt really do anything significant unless you can fully update it. 1 poster able to update fully. So i guess he is the only one here so far.

I dont really see the use of the app except for tracking and maybe locking the scooter.

The point was that it's not disabled on all scooters like you made it seem out to be.

I played around for about 20 minutes and I felt the same way at first and I ride a motorcycle...put one foot forward and one behind and to the side to stabilize and bend the knees a bit.
Thanks for the tips! One of the main reason I bought it was to go up the steep hills around the neighborhood. On flat ground I feel a bit unstable. And when I try to go downhill even more so😂 then when I try going uphill, I feel that the motor try to power up but not powerful enough as it seems to try to Rev up but to no avail and stopped. I am guessing it may have to do with the speed/power limit every one was talking about in this bird version that we can send out to reflash. But I am skeptical if after reflashing, it will have enough power to really handle the really steep hills around my neighborhood. 😂 I have seen someone's comment that they can go up the hills around their neighborhood alright, so I am guessing mine is simply too steep.

Honestly, it doesn't even offer anything beneficial, imo. I'd still keep mine if it didn't work, especially when I purchased the 3 year warranty that covers things like that.

App comnects fine. Max speed is around 15-16 mph but you can feel that the scooter have more power than that. Hopefully we can find a way to update it but even without it its a steal on $200.

My external battery doesnt light up though but on app it shows i have 2 battery.
Only lights up with the headlight on.

So I did some research and for those having bluetooth issues, you may just have to buy a stock dashboard and replace it, pretty simple to do too. They're like $25 on Amazon, some likely have free returns if it doesn't work out. Do some more research for yourself if you go this route.

Edit 1 - You can change the board/deck lights using the M365 tools app.

Edit 2 - You can use the Nine Dash app to change from km/h to mph (I haven't personally done this, but some users have had success with it, there should be a setting somewhere in that app)

Stumbled upon this on Reddit if anyone wants to give it a shot to get more speed.

I wonder if that's actually needed if you just want to increase your top speed. I stumbled upon this, didn't do it yet since I currently have no need to.

Just tried. Does not work. 139 fails to flash.

on this thread someone found an easy unlock for speed, has anyone tried it tho o see if it worx
Nothing working there so far.

---
For those taking count, I bought 2. Both have flashing Bluetooth. When I connect with the official or third party apps via Android, the scooter beeps and Bluetooth logo becomes solid. Locked in Sport mode, 15.5 mph/25 km/h, can't flash firmware like everyone.

For those without Bluetooth, you're not missing too much.
So far, Bluetooth features:
-Lock/unlock the scooter. Locking just makes it so gas pedal doesn't work and the electronic brake is applied when you try to roll the scooter manually. It makes a relatively quiet beep if you try to roll it. Would fail as a deterrent in my opinion. Also comically, you cannot turn off the scooter while it is locked, so you have the flashing RGB LEDs on the undercarriage continuously going while it's locked.
-Modify regen: low (default)/med/high. This is how much the scooter applies electronic braking when you're cruising without pressing gas or brakes.
-Cruise control: on/off. If on, if you hold the gas for 5 seconds straight while riding, the scooter will beep and then keep the gas on without needing to press gas until you brake.
-Through 3rd party app m365 tools:
---Turn on/off tail light. This allows you to make it so the tail light isn't always on, instead it's only on when brakes are applied. Personally I'd keep it on.
---Modify the undercarriage LED lighting
-Through 3rd party app Nine Dash: Can change scooter display to mph or km/h.
-There is no ability to change speed, sport mode, or undercarriage LEDs so far.

Posted on previous page, you can, through the M365 tools app. Just do some more digging and you'll find the setting.

Did you also try changing your serial number with Ninebot Flasher? That's another way of derestricting the speed.
