You can get a pixel 4a 5G at 260-264$ after trading in a pixel 2 or 2 xl. This is the best trade in value for pixel I have found so far

Not everyone wants Google Fi. This is a great deal for those on other carriers that happen to have a 2-3 year old Pixel phone.

We have a couple Pixel 2 phones that are well beyond their prime. The batteries last only a few hours. And if you try to do a video call with 38% battery life, the phone shuts off and restarts. So they aren't very useful anymore. But trade-ins typically offer only $30-40. So $235 is fantastic.

It's my understanding that it'll work on the 4G LTE network. It is also capable of operating on the sub-6 network, but you have to have a plan that provides 5G access. This phone does not have a mmwave radio and therefore is unable to take advantage of Verizon's mmwave network where rolled out.

The $300 credit for iPhone 7 trade-in seems mighty tempting.

Iphone 7 shows $93 mx for me and Pixel 4 is $40. What am I Missing?

Edit: read through more posts. I see this only applies to unlocked version now, and does not stack with the $150-$200 Fi promo. A good deal still, but far from where this was a week ago.

I was considering this but Google Fi currently has the 4A 5G for $349 for existing customers. I would essentially be only getting $100 for my Pixel 2 here.

Also don't forget you lose unlimited HQ uploads to Google Photos when you trade in the 2(XL).

according to this though:
https://support.google.com/photos...=1#storage

you will continue to get for: Pixel 3a-5
You can choose to upload your photos and videos either in High quality or in Original quality. Photos and videos uploaded in High quality from Pixel 3a-5 are free and unlimited. Photos and videos uploaded in Original quality will count towards your Google Account storage. Learn how to change your upload size, and learn more about storage plans.

That ends in about 45 days anyways.

As I was hoping for a deal on Pixel 4a 5G for Black Friday, I had waited on pre-ordering. Decided to pull the trigger today as Google is accepting a cracked screen 64gb Pixel 2XL for $222.50 towards a trade in for the Pixel 4a 5G. I'm pretty sure that when I looked at the trade in during the pre-ordering phase (past month), I was only getting ~$60, so this is a far better deal. The $222.50 (with functional, but cracked screen) is much better than the current Swappa values. If anyone is in a similar situation and looking to upgrade, now seems to be a good time. Trade in credit goes up to $240 for non-cracked and 128gb storage.

To make it even more slick, (only if you like/value the google store credit of any use)

1. Buy/Upgrade the google one membership on the google account you plan to buy the phone with 2TB plan and choose monthly option. [ $9.99/month] , don't choose annual. [ Pay via paypal with Chase Freedom 5% if you have]

Post transactions check your storage on one.google.com and for sure if it is when 2TB, looks for benefits in left section, where it makes you eligible to earn 10% as credit on google store purchases.

2. The shop now from benefits, or head direct to store.google.com
3. Add Pixel 4a 5G, do required steps before trade-in step and then add the Pixel 2/2XL or Pixel 3/3XL as trade-in since those are having high trade in values.

4. In cart, it will show $49.90 coming as credit to you because of membership ( on right top i believe, and yes it gives credit only on purchase price, not on tax)
Note - The credit is added to account 30 days post your device ships.

5. On checkout, you will see your calculated trade-in on right and then process the payment
- either via same paypal trick above ( for some reason, this didn't work for me// even contacted paypal, but didn't resolve, so ended up paying using Chase Freedom Unlimited for 1.5%)
- use any other benefit card (1-2%)

6. Order completion page will show the credit it will earn, the ship dates for phone and Trade In Kit. For what everyone is seeing it is showing up to be shipping/arriving a week later.

7. For Google One Membership, Keep a watch on 30 day credit mark, the moment it shows up, cancel the 2TB monthly plan, or roll back to lower tier. For existing members , can't say if they will be get charged one or two month before they cancel, but since a new member would have purchased device and plan on same day, hopefully they will be able to cancel before 2nd month charge hits resulting in net profit of ~$40 else $30

In Summary : $499 + tax(~35) + $9.99 [ for googleOne] - $27 [ assuming both are paid via paypal with 5% off card] - $49.99 [ google store credit] - $225-295 [ trade-in for Pixel 2/2XL/3/3XL]
= $170-$240

I won't think that is bad price for new Pixel 4a 5G in comparison to the Google Fi deal provided the trade-in doesn't hold much value outside these scenarios.

8.That credit is google store credit , can be used on anything, on new phone, mini, case anything.

Enjoy your new device.

PS - The iPhone XR is showing $373 in trade-in where as iPhone11 ~ 250. So you never know what your device may be of worth unless you keep checking.
