These are going to sound great. The only drawback is they are big! It used to be very in style to have massive speakers. Now people like to have little tiny speakers or in wall etc. if you have the space, these will blow a sound bar away. Also keep in mind you will beed a receiver and they are wired so youll have to run wires from the receiver to each speaker.
How good are these, for a guy that's never owned surround sound, and looks for value?? I don't know shit about surround sound, besides the basics.

Where were you when I purchased my set? I ordered the RC-62 II and thought, this will fit nicely under the TV. It's now a coffee table.
Not really. These are entry level at best. I purchased this exact same deal a year ago. I sent it all back, except the sub and center. The center is decent but there are much better out there. The sub was immediately replaced due to high levels of RFI. The amplifiers in Klipsch subs are inferior Chinese design and manufacture. Look elsewhere.
Not a good deal, fry's used to have amazing deals on klipsch stuff. This package price needs to be reduced, it's their entry level stuff. The Polk or infinity deals are better.
I'd like to ask a genuine question, what is a good set of surround sound system, also what would be needed to set one up? I noticed people have a specific receiver, I'm not entirely sure what it does. I'm willing shill out $1k if not more.

$1k will get your very basic, entry-level 5.1 system and receiver.
$2.5k will get you a powerful and capable 5.1 system and receiver.
