My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.

Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!

Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

Man, I ordered HP envy x360 with same specs except 256 GB ssd for $566 last night. You think envy is better than pavilion?
Quote :
Yes envy is better but that had the ryzen 5. This has ryzen 7. This is not 2 in 1 so it wont turn 360 to tablet mode.
You trade off cpu for better chassis, pen and 2 in 1.

I got that one too.
Envy supposedly weighs 4.5 Lbs. I wonder if using it in x360 tablet mode is even feasible unless you lift Wink
Envy has a much better battery life (~55Whr vs ~41Whr on this one).
Anyways, thanks OP. In for this 1.

The now-expired $379 laptop deal from Walmart is still a champ in terms of overall value. Granted no backlit keyboard and it's a Ryzen 5 4500U BUT still under $400! Can't beat that

is this good enough for a senior for browsing, and occasional photo processing?
Yes. Most likely. I almost pulled the trigger, but then I noticed this has been discontinued, and it was discounted to this same price last year. The biggest complaint seems to be the viewing angles (including FHD). I will pass for a better build quality laptop.

Maybe in a 12, the 4 might usually is soldered, but the 8 wouldn't be. But in an 8, both 4s are soldered? Although cheap, that would be a deal breaker.

That is HP quality for you...I swore never to buy HP again after a string of bad failures but this deal is really good.
Don't buy low end walmart models & always hold out for direct from hp, best buy & upper mid tier & up models whilst researching models & better chance of avoiding that.

Yeah i know and its big and heavy to use as tablet on your lap. but you can take notes on a desk with pen or or use it on a tent mode on a desk or use it for drawing etc.

If you dont need folding this much better deal for sure.

According to the HP Maintenance Service Manual, the memory is upgradable.
