My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.

Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!

Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

3.8lb laptops? Thats a huge no. Both this and the dell. Added to cart and realized
Hate to inform you that weight is not at all unreasonable or above the norm for a 15" laptop. Probably a below average weight in fact. You need to be shopping for an "ultrabook" that sacrifices some power and features for portability

What is max RAM on this one. The Dell 15 5505 is upgradable to 64gb?

The now-expired $379 laptop deal from Walmart is still a champ in terms of overall value. Granted no backlit keyboard and it's a Ryzen 5 4500U BUT still under $400! Can't beat that
This one is under 400 too 399Smilie
Actually with 12% cashback this is cheaper than the walmart one. I think this computer is the champ for value.

Cheaper better specs.

support brain is soldered not the configurable ram
Are you saying they say that on purpose to get people to buy max ram and pay a premium? I considered that option but do you have any evidence that it isn't soldered? I'm trying to find any details online but so far only the older 3000u versions have been found.

And HP's service manual is a bit confusing cause it leads to another model and not sure if that is correct or simply an error.

Excellent deal but will stick with Dell deal due to poor battery life (4700U and 41Wh battery), questionable HP build quality and restocking fee.

That is HP quality for you...I swore never to buy HP again after a string of bad failures but this deal is really good.
I've also had bad luck with HP (Gateway) and Acer laptops. My Asus laptop from 2011 is still running strong with the Samsung EVO SSD. I've been using it daily for browsing, light photo editting, light gaming, etc.

Be sure to vacuum out the vents at the bottom of your laptops every now and then. Also be sure to remove the old thermal paste and apply new paste on the CPU every few years. Disassembly can be time consuming but it's preventative maintenance similar to changing the timing belt/water pump on a car.

According to the HP Maintenance Service Manual, the memory is upgradable.

I almost cancelled the Dell, but the RAM is a bummer. Still a great deal if you go with the RAM upgrade though.

On page 33 and 34, it shows the memory module part numbers and how to upgrade the memory modules.
