My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

just search for vpn on slickdeals here. There are always several pay once lifetime vpn subscriptions. I have 3 of those lifetime subscriptions (the company lifetime of course, not yours)
I did a little browsing on the VPNs. Malwarebytes isn't even tier 2 yet, so forget them. Same with most of the lifetime offers as near as I can tell. Tier 1 still seems to be Express ($$$) and Nord ($). I took the group on offer for $85 per 27 months and a $50 amazon gift card on Nord. Yeah, it's over a dollar a month even if I do get the Amazon card within 120 days as promised, but it's one of the best VPN services.

Mine was on the same version as yours. I just updated to the one on HP's website. Date: 9/29/20 and Version: 22.0.1.1. The speed went up on upload to around 100m. Not bad, but definitely not ideal. I'll replace my WiFi card next week to an AX201 and see if it solves the issue.

This is ridiculous. I'm having another issue trying to get a replacement, and on the phone for hours....

Figured I'd chime in after about 24hrs of having my machine and using it quite a bit.

First of all, build quality and overall feel is much better than expected. I'm replacing my HP 14 laptop which I got for $279 at Costco last year. It crapped out on me a few weeks ago and Costco Concierge gave me a full refund on it. That was a plastic piece of junk compared to this.

I replaced the ssd and ram to 1tb and 32gb ram. Installed windows 10 using a newly created windows usb from Microsoft. It activated automatically. Drivers installed automatically from windows update.

It is super fast. Much faster than the HP 14 (Intel i5 1035g4) Everyday tasks are a breeze. Speakers are loud and clear. USB c charging is great. HDMI output 4k @ 60hz. USB C also outputs 4k@60hz using a dongle. Youtube 4k60 videos play instantly without any stutter.

Wifi 6 connects at 1.2gbps max. Usually connects around 920mbps. Download speeds are around 500 - 700mbps. Upload for some reason is only about 50. I have gigabit up and down. Only this device has this issue. I may need to do some further testing.

Doesn't get super hot like my previous laptop.

I also purchased an HP pavilion 14t from the Cyber Monday deal (1135g7, 8gb, 250nit 1080p touch) to replace the wife's yoga 730 and ordered another HP 14t (400nit 1080p screen) for myself. I was going to choose between that and this HP 15. I think I've made up my mind to keep this one because of the 4700u cpu being such a beast.

Very happy with this purchase.
How much dedicated vram is present??

Guys, if you are swapping out RAM and NVME SSD, MAKE SURE you disconnect or remove battery first.

I have watched enough laptop repair video to know this is probably the NO. 2 reason people's laptop gets damaged (No. 1 reason is liquid of course).

Funny... Yesterday I added 1 nvme on Evoo laptop when it was ON. I didn't know it was still ON because my kids were using it and the lid was closed.

So I opened the bottom and added the nvme from this HP to the Evoo. So, after I finished, I flipped the laptop and realized that the laptop was never turned off while I was adding the nvme. I literary cried inside cuz I thought I just burned $1000 laptop. I took me awhile too because the nvme tiny-screw kept dropping on the motherboard cuz it was slippery.

But praise the Lord 😍
My Evoo was still working perfectly, even after I added extra nvme without powering it off.

Weird huh...

Are you aware that you'll never get sustained or full speed with WiFi?

Yes .. however all my other devices speed test around 500 - 800 up and down. This one is 1/10th of that. There is something wrong for sure. It's especially annoying when I'm transferring videos from my laptop to desktop

Go it, check your power savings mode, select High Performance and test again with charger plugged in, else could be a defective card.

Waited for driver to show up for three days, no show, no update. Waited in line for a hour at San Jose office, but the package was nowhere to be found. Staff said driver must have loaded it up but didn't scan it. Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation? What should I do? TIA!

Have you had a chance to open the back? Is it possible the 2 antennas somehow have loosen up during transportation. I would check the wifi card connectors as a last resort.
