My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

Is the preinstalled vpn free?
It's the best/most expensive VPN around.
You get a free trial, but you'd have to really want it to keep paying for it after the 30 days are up.

Turned it on this morning and got a popup for ExpressVPN 30 day trial.
I'd been thinking of buying MalwarebytesVPN for $40/yr but haven't really looked at the many VPNs on the market in a long time.
Trial doesn't make sense. I already have vpn unlimited lifetime plan. Works really well

Figured I'd chime in after about 24hrs of having my machine and using it quite a bit.

First of all, build quality and overall feel is much better than expected. I'm replacing my HP 14 laptop which I got for $279 at Costco last year. It crapped out on me a few weeks ago and Costco Concierge gave me a full refund on it. That was a plastic piece of junk compared to this..
The 4700u runs circles around the i5-1035G4 for multicore and also use less power. And this is definitely a lot more premium built than the cheap plastic costco one. also got 256gb vs 128 gb ssd and 8gb vs 4gb ram. also have the usb-c with DP and PD . So you do get a lot more for $100 more so i think it is a better deal than the costco

But you do have a little more size and weight increase with the new HP though since you are moving to a bigger 15 in format.

Got mine FINALLY. Will open and answer some questions tonight.

Anyone who have gotten it for the last 2 days ALSO RECEIVED $50 refund? Just wondering.
Quote from cdcooker :
Just want to check who has received the $50 refund email and also has received their notebook already?

$50 refund is only for orders that cannot be filled to be delivered before xmas or shipped before xmas. If you got your order shipped before xmas, you probably wont be expected to get the refund.

just search for vpn on slickdeals here. There are always several pay once lifetime vpn subscriptions. I have 3 of those lifetime subscriptions (the company lifetime of course, not yours)

try re-installing the wifi driver from HP website. May be that might fix it. I upgraded my OS to PRO before testing. I didnt test it before my clean OS upgrade.

Can anyone verify the dedicated vram amount? I ordered a 16gb config and I'm curious if it is limited to under a gig (I've seen one or two comments saying it was). If it is under a gig of dedicated vram, how will it handle games that need at least 1 gig of dedicated vram?

Was yours defective before or after you switched SSDs?
I wonder if something went wrong with the WiFi drivers in the transition.

My laptop produces a static noise (small but noticeable and annoying in a quiet place) when moving the mouse with the power connected. Does anyone have the same issue?
