The change you speak of is because they changed the way the detection zones are made. Before, it was rectangular, now, you can "fill in" the part of the scene you are most interested in. For the V3, it still is a rectangular zone though, at least for now.

The cams will still go off if headlights / heavy snow/rain wind blown objects and whatever else are detected in the zone you have specified.

One of my emails from Wyze ended up in my Junk mail folder. I'm not sure which as I just moved it to my normal inbox. From the timestamps, the email containing the code was received about 3 minutes after the confirmation email from Wyze and the confirmation email from PayPal.

You don't need the subscription to use the cams. You will automatically get 12 second recording saved to the cloud if you have motion detection turned on. There is no charge for this. The only issue besides it being a rather short record time is that there is then a 5 minute "cool-down" before it will save something else. The cams also have micro-SD slots so you can install a memory card and record continuously or just events without any restrictions and no fee. The subscription is by device so if you only purchase one, then only one of the cameras can be setup for full cloud recording and special detection features.
