If you are on the magenta plan, I would say yes. I'm on this plan and it's $140 for up to 6 lines. I did the add a line promo last year for an iPhone xr and got all the rebates. Now, it wasn't add a free line tho. I only have 5 lines on my account so I just added a 6th line(which was essentially free) and qualified for the rebates.

I have to agree. Anyone who thinks T-Mobile is going to give most existing customers a free iPhone XR and line just because they love you have obviously not been with T-Mobile for very long.

I'll educate you new T-Mobile customers quick. 99% of the time existing customers get phone deals by adding a new line that's obviously not free and or trading in a phone with it. The last discounted phone with zero strings attached (no trade in or add a line for example) was Cyber Monday of 2017 for the Moto Z2 Force. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe I am. I'm talking one phone, not BOGO deals.

The rep talking to me kept asking if I wanted to create an account and start the order, so that when the deal goes live on Monday I only need to submit. I decided not to yet because no point to getting the credit check hit before I'm ready to pull the trigger, and they wouldn't commit to waiving activation fees today.

login, click account at the top, then click the name of your plan in the middle of the page. it'll show discounts applied to the account, though note it can take a day or two for newly added ones to show up.

I had the similar question. (+ was also wondering if it stacks with free line), but some smarty pants took the thread to different direction.

Best would be ping TM rep and confirm, but I think you can.

For how long should you keep the line? What will happen if you close the line in a month or two? Do you have to pay the full price of the iPhone XR? Thanks.

Depends on how they do it. If it's bill credits, then you'll likely have to keep the line for the entirety of the credits (or risk losing your credits). If it's a rebate card (like they did last year for the iPhone 8) then you'll just need to keep the line until you cash out the rebate card.

Why can't this thread be simplified?

Just say a new or current subscriber need to add a NEW line, which will NOT be free, and need to keep it for at least a year.

And to "compensate" that, TM will give you those free phones.

So depending on your account type, you could pay between $20-$40/month for at least 12 months, for that "free" phone.

Am I wrong?

I highly doubt you will get a free iPhone for each line you are bringing. Nothing in the deal description makes it sound like that at all. They are in the business of making money, not giving away free iphones.
