This one is the outdated model, not the NEW XPS.
Pros: Core i7, XPS 13, 1920 x 1080 display, USB-C 3.1 with power delivery, 2.7 lbs
Cons: DDR3 RAM, and for those who care: non-touch display
I think the new Envy 360 2-in1 (2020) beats in IMHO

- Convertible design
- Touchscreen/Pen support
- Available with Ryzen 4000 series CPU
- Dual USB-A ports

I realize they're not directly comparable, but if you just need general computing I'd get the new Macbook Air with M1 over this.

Better screen, more power, more battery life, properly placed webcam.. pretty much a no brainer.

Except it's a Mac

Xps 13 with ryzen 7 4800u and XPS 15 with ryzen 7 4800h would have been a great choice. Maybe next year but who knows.

Just bought an envy from BB. It blows. The screen is unreadable. Have to site directly in front of it and still the edges are dark unless I physically move. It's a deal breaker. I've never purchased a laptop, even cheap ones, where the display wasn't great. Hp missed the boat on a wonderful laptop by handcuffing it with an unacceptable and crap display.
That (not being able to see the screen from an angle) sounds like you may have the screen with the privacy guard version ?

IPS screens typically don't have the problem with viewing angles. The privacy screen is, i thnk, 1000 nits (not sure of exact number but i know it's pretty up there) but the viewing angles suck, as they should - by design Smilie

Which screen does yours have ?

Maybe not native, but didn't the x86 mac os run virtualbox or something? How well does that work?
No virtualization whatsoever on the ARM macs sadly. Not even with rosetta2

Sure but I'd argue all general computing tasks can be accomplished across all major operating systems.

10th gen CPU and DDR3? That's a very odd combination, considering DDR4 has been the norm for well over 5 years.

In specs yes. But when compared in person, the difference will be huge. The Envy 360 is thick and heavy as a pig. Way too heavy for its size and specs. I returned it and bought my wife a LG Gram 15. Even though it does not have touch screen, and slower, the weight is the deciding factor for her.

Also the 16:9 aspect ratio with an ugly chin. 16:10 is perfect.

Lol, it makes you "envy" everyone else's laptops...

In my experience, XPS is more solid with thick aluminum plates on top and bottom, whereas Envy is more like an aluminum can (maybe 1.5x thickness) wrapped on a laptop.

DDR 3 Ram. A quad-core i7. So outdated.

This literally has nothing good for $838. Who's giving it thumbs up!!!!? I would never buy this

Nah. It's more like buying a Porsche and you can't see out the frosted windshield. But nice try. I'm enjoying my XPS very much compared to the shit Envy.

No offense, if you can't see clear out of 300nits, you might want to check out your eyes. Again. No offense.
