Took me a while to find a straight comparison of this tablet to the Fire hd 10.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/c..._fhd_plus/
"Keep in mind, despite having an octa-core CPU, the lack of Cortex A-73 cores makes this a mainstream SoC at best, which fits the price point well. Other devices in the same class like the Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) have more raw CPU power due to another component choice. In practice you won't see the same difference as clearly as in synthetic benchmarks and once you compare their behavior in daily use, the Lenovo should feel better than the Fire because 2 vs 4 GB memory makes a world of difference."

I bought the smart tab M8 with dock, expecting it to be a more flexible alternative to the Google nest hub.

It was slow to respond, the low percentage of the time it actually did.
Any reason to expect this to be any better?

Duet is much better than this. So you are downgrading.
yes in some ways but I get frustrated with Duet OS, more of a notebook than tablet. The Duet speakers were terribly weak, I have a cheap Lenovo tab plus LTE that gets louder. Maybe I'm spoiled now with the Samsung Tab A7 quad speakers.

YMMV with budget, needs and uses. I mostly dock my tabs as portable TV with ATT TV and LOCAST apps, no gaming or netflix. This will be hands free and wireless charging without the heat issues. I found the Duet and Samsung a bit too heavy to hold for long periods. The dock will also free up the USB C port for other things, like possible video out??

This compared favorably with the Fire HD10 and returns are free until 1/21 if it doesn't measure up. Paypal was also extra 5% off with VISA.

Maybe they will restock. Seems strange, they would take so long to ship, I expect it will go sooner. I ordered early and also got the slow shipping of 12/24.

Seems a bit premature to mark deal dead. "Sorry, this product is temporarily unavailable! "

i hope you are not being sarcastic. quick search shows that screen does support active pen, amazon has couple hits. i have flex 5 with active pen, it works fine (dont use it much it is exciting in the begining then it just sits there).
No - was not being sarcastic. I have S6lite from Costco which I use only for note taking and I can return. I just need something to take notes electronically and sent the notes to MS-Word

This tablet is better maybe not $53 better than the Fire Tablet.
(*The 10" Fire Tablet was on sale a few weeks ago for $72)
My personal opinion.... it's worth a $20~$30 price difference.
Well, whats the screen quality difference? Battery? Audio, and if you only do light multitasking?

Yes, but not everyone wants to invest the time or has the drive to do that
true, but won't stop me from mentioning the possibility because someone else doesn't want to take the 5 minutes to apply the effort

Still limiting despite using firetoolbox or side loading play services. Try using certain banking apps such as Chase on a modded Amazon tablet. You can't. You'll also get on quite a few apps, "This app is not compatible with this device" in the play store. Or that the app may not be optimized for the device. Then it's hit or miss.

I also had a NVR app that stopped working on a fire hd tablet that was installed from play store after the devs/vendor updated their app in the play store. Been 6 months and after several updates, still don't work.

Fire tablets are still a great deal when they have the promos, and for majority of people work great, but for better compatibility with play store apps, this deal probably better.
True but u also get a lot of limitations on devices that have the Play Store natively as well. Android as a whole CAN be hit or miss depending on what you are trying to use it for.

Is $116 a good price (with workplace discount) for the following Samsung (64GB version)?

You'll be stuck on Android Pie forever unless you go custom rom.
I've got the Tab 8 FHD, and it just updated to 10 this week. Supposedly, they're sending it out to the Tab 10's too.

Very tempted, if this comes back in stock. Wouldn't mind the bigger size, the extra speaker, double the storage and an extra gig or RAM.

Also, for those ordering directly from Lenovo, be sure to sign up for their rewards program first. Then look for opportunities to get rewards points. If you fill in a few surveys (usually one question, like your zip code, or plans to buy something) and refer someone else (or another of your own accounts), you can rack up around $7 in rewards that can be applied to any order.

If cashback works with the coupon (a certain T.O.P. cashback site is giving 12% right now), then that brings the cost down to just over $100.
