This has a very specific use case - A entertainment consumption tablet that doubles up as a smart assistant. And believe me that kickstand and speakers help .. a lot for Entertainment and Social Networking (Video calls).
Is this the best 10 inch tablet for this price (~$150) ?Depends on your use case -
If you want a tablet to use the google assistant feature (recipes while cooking), or convenient video calls get this.
If you need the fastest tablet (multitasking) in this range Samsung A7 is better overall, it will always feel snappier and faster even with one GB less RAM due to a much superior processor.
If you need a cheaper alternative , fire HD 10 is available for $80 but comes with a boatload of amazon crap and always feels slow. Even after using a toolbox to clear the amazon crap.
If you need a chromebook tablet, look for the duet, best for the buck there if you can score one under $225.

Fire Hd 10 very slow tablet.Absolutley unusable. Not recieved push notifications
I got the hub max during the sale. It's not as great as I thought it would be. It lags and stutters when moving between screens. I try to watch YouTube videos at 1.5-2x speed and it stutters. Note: No night vision on the nest max camera.
The assistant is nice to use and the visual GUI with all my smart devices is a nice touch.
I also got the google max speaker pair (the large ones). They sound great and I'll be keeping them and returning my hub max.
I'm looking to get an android tablet like this or an iPad for my setup.
I would gladly pay more for a Fire 10 with pure android.

This this right here! If Amazon used the hardware with Google software it would be amazing! I'll keep Amazons Lock Screen adds just give us the option. I wish Google would do what Amazon is doing with tablets they'd be amazing!

I don't mind buying the good speaker but I need to screen. Thats why I'm looking at hub max.
So are you planing to get the tablet and pair it with your home max speakers?
Thank you

My main goal was to have an all in one for my garage. The nest hub max fit that bill. But it's like a jack of all trades but master of none. No one that I know uses google duo for video chatting.
The lag and video/audio stutter really annoys me. I have until January to make a decision due to Walmart's extended holiday return policy.
I either plan to put an older laptop, chromebook, or tablet near the speakers for my setup.
My original budget was under $200. Now with the speaker pair I'm way past that budget and I'm thinking on getting an iPad to work with the rest of my friends/family ecosystem (iMessage, FaceTime, etc) being able to check emails and make phone calls.

while it runs decently as an android tablet, the ambient mode on this DOES NOT WORK. i was going to return them because one of the biggest use cases for me was the hub-like ambient feature, all I really wanted was for it to be able to cycle through Google photo albums like the other smart displays do.
despite it being advertised as capable of doing ambient mode, it just can't. it hangs on the clock display only. if you look it up you can find many, many others asking lenovo support on their own boards and the support staff just give very unhelpful, canned responses that don't help. i finally found a set of very oblique instructions from a staff member, but that didn't even match up with the google home settings in the tablet itself.
my fiance ended up loving it for some casual games (we haven't owned tablets in forever) so we kept it...but for me, definitely begrudgingly so because the main advertised feature that was supposed to set this tablet apart from competitors (ambient mode) doesn't even work.
