My local Planet Fitness is running a deal for a 1 year regular membership for only $99, no annual fee and $0 startup fee, expires December 31st. This promotion is not for all locations so please check to see if your local location is running this promotion here.

This is a good deal in normal times but beware that Planet Fitness is a franchise & the local owners can be asses.
My area has been a Coronavirus hotspot for months but the local PF franchise wouldn't refund the money I paid upfront & natl PF was useless saying they couldn't help because the local owner made the decisions so I paid $99 last year for something that was useless for 10 months.
I have been on this 'plan' for several years now, but I haven't gone to the gym since March. Debating doing this again. My local PF (supposedly a rare 'corporate' location) doesn't advertise this unless you ask about it/already have it.

My local planet fitness has been great with the current situation. They allowed people to suspend their memberships if they did not feel comfortable coming in. They did close, by Governor's order, for just over two months but they extended my yearly membership by three months so I am good until April 1. I am sure different clubs did things differently so as always YMMV.
I will check tonight to see if they will allow me to add this new special and still keep the same April 1 end date and provide a DP for those in the same situation.
Mine used to be 24/7, they close at 10pm for cleaning supposedly, I drive by at 1005 on my lunch break and the place is a desert. They just don't want to pay to staff the place anymore. Ahh well, saves me $23 a month plus $49 a year or whatever they charge these days for the yearly membership fee.

I was working out tonight with an N95 mask on, lol. I think I'll probably start going late at night when nobody is there since it's a 24/7 gym.
It's just not the time for gyms not until this pandemic is under control.
I was going to one up until the 1st lockdown (not pf) brand new building and everything super clean. But They went with a high efficiency insulated building which meant zero air exchange. Last winter the windows dripped and air was heavy from peoples sweat and workouts. They did encourage to wipe off machines but nobody would ever wipe the barbells or dumbbells. 100x of hands must handle those and rub faces all day.
Ahh...as expected, when it comes to gyms, cars, power tools, electrical-*anything* and sometimes Valentines Day promos (?!), the threads always go off-topic in the exact same way.
Definitely get the details from your local franchisee...cancellation policy, freezing policy, mask enforcement policy, etc. As a filthy casual who goes to the gym Iretro fitness) 3x a week, I interviewed the owner and got the info I need to be comfortable with keeping my membership. My membership was frozen automatically from April to September, and I even got my March dues refunded despite using it for 10 days. No complaints.
Planet Fitness has fared better than other gym chains specifically because they aim for the clientele who make them the most $$...normies who are dont want to be intimidated by the more hard-core members.
They also fine you $59 for cancellation, and charge an annual fee I believe of $50 or so. Please read ALL of the fine print since I ended up paying way more just to cancel than another gym.
Just for grins I looked it up.. here is $199 for a year paid in full.. If you do the 1 year commitment montly.. with annual and signup fee.. add it up.. 188.. haha. I bet they sell a lot of the yearly ones since people cant do math.
