I actually like the cheaper Essential more than the better non-Essential smart clock. The stripped down one is really just a Google Donut on steroid with easy to read clock and better speakers, compared to the Lenovo Smart clock which is a stripped down version of a Google Hub that doesn't really do anything

Same here. Had nothing but wifi disconnects with the more expensive smart clock. Had to reset multiple times within a week. Returned it and could not be more happier with the essentials. Plus the night light is a nice touch for a kid's room.
