Just a thought to anyone brand new to action cameras: if you're unsure you will even use a GoPro, perhaps consider one of the many knockoffs to try before investing in a GoPro. I say this while owning and endorsing a GoPro 8 and 7, but I've used them in mud, scuba, and tropical showers among others and would buy them again. Costco carried an ExploreOne action camera at around $30 in store, and I just saw one still in stock at a store I was visiting last month. There are many options online. They won't give you the same reliability, features, software usability, support and many others that a GoPro will, but that doesn't matter if you're not going to actually make use of it. I know plenty of people who have bought GoPros as expensive paperweights because they thought it seemed like something they would need, but their lifestyle was better suited to regular camera. If you are going to use it though, this is a great deal on a great action cam.

Check out the gopro site. They have a bundle for $350 that includes their subscription service that provides 1 year of no questions asked camera replacement among other things. Just set a reminder in your phones calendar to cancel 1 year from now

I think it would be overkill but yes you could. You can pop off the battery door and have it plugged into your car to keep it going. At 1080p 60 I ran it for a 45min car ride 30% battery left. They tend to get pretty hot too. Picture quality is pretty crisp and colorful.

Got a 7 black on Nov from Amazon lightning deal, did not used it even once. Today saw this deal and checked YouTube for the difference. Wow! The video stabilization is amazing. Decided to return 7 and in for an 8!

I missed last thread so I will just say I had nothing but issues with the 9 including it shutting down at 75% battery in cold weather (~20°F). Have had no issues with the 8.
