I already did the conversion unknowingly last year, and only got like a year. Not sure if I'll be able to do it again any time soon.

Last year when I used a 1 year Gold code on my account that already had Ultimate Gamepass I think it only converted it to 3 more months of Ultimate Gamepass

2) yes however the game library is SMALL AND most importantly must be a Game Pass Ultimate (GPU) subscriber. The xbox game service you're talking about playing game on the go via android phone is called XCloud
This deal is basically a prequisite to become a GPU for 3 years.
Go get Gold membership for 3 years.
Activate the $1 month Game Pass Ultimate trial on MS website.
Once activated, you will be asked to do the subscription conversion from Gold to GPU. Then you just confirm and voila!
3) I can't comment since my Pixel 4a won't mirror the screen to TV via HDMI cable (stupid google chromecast)
But with upgrade to XBU I CAN play lots of games on my PC, right? I guess that would be dumb since the PC version is $6/mo anyway . The thing is I don't have an Xbox yet but I don't want to miss out on the $1 upgrade.
