Not true. Just reach out to @tmobilehelp on Twitter via DM with the imei and they'll unlock it for you. I just did it last week. No special approach required. The unlock was successful in 8 hours.

A71 is a mid range phone with "5G competable" but i think note 9 should still be a better phone

Is it true that you can trade in any smart phones? I saw from the black friday deal, people got denied when they traded in old android phones such as prepaid LG or Kyocera.

It's showing a cost of $325 after trading in "any" phone, so, not a good price.

Not true. TMO will immediately unlock this once you provide IMEI and state you bought outright. Can easily be done via Twitter or fb messenger.
