Is it possible to get the Verizon version without a Verizon account (and without signing up for new Verizon service)?
No. If you check out the Verizon thread, lot of people have to manually call the CSR to get everything waived from their new account. Most people have to call more than once to get the fees waived one by one.

You can get a good price on the Verizon deal; you just have to work for it.

Nobody is paying $599 retail for this phone. The unlocked Pixel 5 retails for $699 and the locked iPhone 11 retails for $599. I don't care what retail says because I don't pay retail. One poster is comparing it to a $1K phone. Another poster is comparing this deal with a $700 phone.

I don't know why you think that we are paying $599 for this phone.... People who are paying out of pocket for an unlocked phone for $200 is a much better value than paying huge bucks $600-700 retail price for the iPhone 11 or Pixel 5. There is a lot of things that I can do with my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G that I can't do with my iPhone. Apples to oranges when comparing Apple to Samsung.

Is it 3 times worth paying that extra? No way. Where is the Pixel 5 (retail $700) for $200? Oh. It doesn't exist. Where is the unlocked iPhone 11 for $200? Nope.

Lets try to compare phone deals with similar phone deals..... I paid a little bit more for my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G than my iPhone SE 2020. They had similar deal prices for me. Should I do a comparison? My daily driver phone is the Samsung. Is the Samsung phone perfect? Of course not. Is it a steal for phones under $200 budget range? Yes.
Well put. The A71 performs much better than my previous LG G6+ which was really slowing down and not getting updates. For $88, the A71 was leaps and bounds better. It's super fast and looks fantastic. My main phone is an iPhone 11 PRO MAX and while I prefer iOS, sometimes I need Android and I'm super happy with what I got for my $88.

Other people here can complain all day about fake retail prices and compare this to a flagship phone, but in the end, if you're looking for a deal on a great phone that doesn't require 30 months of bill credits and has a generous trade-in deal, I think this is a good deal.

Just a heads up. If you dont want to buy groupon code, ask customer service if they have any codes. They offered $120 off if i purchase it now. This doesn't stack with most other codes, but works exactly like groupon code

Did you get one code for $120 off or two separate codes for $100 and $20?

I agree with about comparing phone deals with phone deals.

I'm making a different point completely. I'm saying the Retail price placed by Samsung creates a false impression that it's on the same level as phones in the 600-650 range. So people who are buying this phone in the 200 range with promotion think they're getting a steal. I'm simply pointing out the $650 retail is misleading when comparing its overall status in the Smartphone world. Do you not agree with my point?

You're making my point for me, the iPhone and Pixel never go far from their retail because that's their true value. The A71 is never sold at or around the retail because people quickly figured out that it's severely overpriced at retail.
I'm not sure why you're arguing that I'm saying it's overpriced at 200, I'm not. I never even said go and buy the 600 iPhone instead. I simply said, temper expectations, You're not getting a 650 quality phone for 200, which is what Samsung wants consumers to believe.

You don't need a beater phone to trade in for $75. They accepted other phones with great trade-in values. Better than ebay deals. You thought the t-mobile phone was 100% locked and had strict unlocking rules. That isn't true. It is a misconception from many.

Considering the trade-in and the promo, the actual cost for me was like $180 after tax for the unlocked phone with no high priced locked plan.... Those "free phone" deals are never free if one is paying insanely high monthly fees and 24 months of bill credits. People are easily fooled. According to slickdeals, the amazon deal for $550 plus tax for Samsung Galaxy S20 FE got 50 thumbs up but that is expensive. One can do the amazon for like an $85 reduction.... $465 is still expensive. With tax, it comes to $513 for me. Way more than the A715G deal. The ghost touch issues was a big problem for the FE too.

They key is to stack a great trade-in and a great promotion discount deal together. This Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and the Pixel 4a 5G (google fi) deals standout for great bang for your buck.... +300 THUMBS UP deals last month. Google Fi had issues with trade-ins but I had success with my trade-ins with both Google and Samsung.
I'm glad you got the phone you wanted and I'm glad I got the phone i wanted. I wasn't debating the merits of this deal, i was simply pointing out that the information listed in the OP is incorrect (typo?). I have a pixel 3a and knew that i didn't want to side-grade to a mid range processor. Personally, I paid $360 oop for the S20 FE with no hassles of: trade ins, unlocking, carrier change, monthly bill credits, contracts, etc. Better hardware, better color selection, better resale/trade-in value down the road so it was no brainer in my situation. I'm grandfathered on sprint perks so not really able to switch plans.

One would think by the fifth phone in a line they've have worked out some of those kinks.

On December 2nd...... I traded in a Pixel 3a ($180) which surprisingly only gets about $100 on ebay after fees and shipping to Samsung. I was only charged $94.99 plus tax on my credit card for the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G after the trade-in. The t-mobile deal isn't the same for the S20 FE t-mobile back then or right now.

Today..... For me to trade-in the same Pixel 3a for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, it would cost me $604.99 on my credit card and that includes the measly $95 trade-in. I think the lowest price for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G that I have seen was the Amazon deal that you stack with the $100 rebate but that is still over $500 after tax.

I would much rather pay $94.99.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. But the S20 FE with Pixel 3a trade in was $200 after everything.

2nd trade was accepted first time. No chat required this time. Was a tracfone E5.

Sold the A71 5g to someone off ebay and they want to return it - connectivity issues. Guess I will enjoy it instead. Serves me right for trying to sell on ebay I guess but they had that sell for $1 deal going.

I'm having quite a bit of trouble, getting T-Mo to unlock this phone... I am a T-Mo user for over 12 yrs, and wife wants to use this on her Sprint account.
Have called T-Mo 3 times, and also sent DM on twitter. Nothing yet.
Do I need to insert any SIM to unlock?

"S20 5g is better than this phone."

What?! What a shocker?! You said the $1K Samsung Galaxy S20 5G with the launch price of $999.99 is better than the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. You are comparing apples to oranges. Who said this phone was a flagship? Samsung never said it was a "flagship". Samsung sells a billion various models from budget to expensive flagship.

Where is the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S20 5G deal where people are paying $180 out of pocket with no plan? I missed that deal.
Wow, you're offended easily. You should read what I wrote, then read what you wrote. I said that this phone is not as capable as the S20 FE, but the hardware is near-identical. "Saving" $800 on a $200 device sold for $1000 is not a deal. I never said that Samsung said this was a flagship phone. And regardless of what a company sells, there are options for a reason and for the exact net amount this is a terrible device in comparison to similar net-priced deals. You need to divorce your wife or tell your boyfriend you can't leave her because you got some shit to work through on your own, bro. Calm down.
