The Sony X950H is very good for use as a PC monitor. It has low input lag and fast response time, resulting in a responsive desktop experience. It supports chroma 4:4:4 at all resolutions and its VA panel is immune to permanent burn-in. However, its viewing angles are mediocre, so the edges of the screen may look inaccurate if you sit up close.

PROS
Excellent SDR and HDR peak brightness.
Outstanding reflection handling.
Impressive response time.
CONS
Mediocre viewing angles.

Best Gaming TV you can get right now for under $800. Works great as a monitor as well.
The 950h doesn't have 120Hz support or VRR. You'd be better off getting a 900h (which has a newer HDMI chipset, even though it has some issues) or a Samsung Q70/80/90, or some LG's. So, it will look beautiful at a static 60hz rate but to qualify as a 'gaming tv' or monitor these days generally means supporting higher refresh rates and VRR.

2021 will be a LOT better in this regard across the line.

The 900H is an excellent TV. I have the 85" and have it hooked up to a PS5 and Xbox Series X. Running HDMI 2.1 @120

What makes the 950 series better than the popular 900 series?

I'm a bit confused. Both Rtings and Sony say that this model supports 120 hz. I think you're right on the VRR support not being there though.

Edit: 120 hz is only for 1080p

I'm using 40" which I think is plenty big as monitor.. Any bigger it gets too pixelated (dpi of a 25" 1080p monitor)
