Just went from a 4k 60hz monitor to a 240hz 1080p 3ms monitor for gaming. I prefer it - I had bought into the idea that 4k is better for detail but I didn't consider it's drawbacks.
Quality settings at 1080p can be much higher and resolution of anything but a static image is drastically improved with better motion handling and fps. In a moving image, detail gained by the 4k is lost. 'Resolution' as far as our eyes work is a combination of motion clarity and detail, and I can actually see better with the 1080p.
Documents, static gaming (strategy, etc) and movies (for which panning and movement is controlled for better presentation at cinema fps) all benefit from the greater detail provided by 4k. In action gaming, better motion is more impactful than reducing the pixel size by 1/4.
this is still available. Quick question - does this have G Sync or Free Sync? I have a Geforce card but don't know much about monitors - do I need to get a G sync one or is it bad if I get a Free Sync one? Does it matter if it has neither? Thank you
