I have one of these, and I can help you with your decision: Don't buy it. It wiggles a lot, doesn't feel secure enough, and despite it is metal, it feels cheap and overpriced.

Would not recommend this folks. The stand wobbles pretty easily.

This isn't meant to be a standing desk. It's to bring your laptop screen up to eye level, which is more ergonomic than constantly leaning forward to look down at it on a desk or table. Something like this is important if you're suddenly using your laptop all the time for work from home etc. You really don't want your screen and keyboard/ mouse to be at the same height. There are less elaborate options available though (even a cardboard box would do just fine)

It seems so awkward to type when your laptop is on this stand. Can you elaborate?

I use a cardboard box (about 40-50% of laptop area)

The description says it works for 17" laptops, but it was not large enough to fit mine.

Do you have any good alternatives?

This has carpal tunnel written all over it - how do you type when the laptop is that angle without resting your wrists on the laptop?
You don't type on it, it just holds the laptop at a better height so you can use a keyboard and mouse. It has the added benefit of bringing the built-in Webcam up to a better height too if you do video calls.

Yup, that works at least as well. That's why I suggested a cardboard box. This particular stand doesn't seem like a good choice to me.

I bought one last deal. It's pretty nice and easy to assemble. I don't have experience with others to compare to, but it's little wobbly and sometimes wants to turn for no reason. Nonetheless it saves my neck when at a table so invest the $30 for that alone!

I have one of each above and it works quite well to raise the laptop to eye level with 2 monitors for home office use. The prices fluctuate in the $20s, and as others mentioned the one in the OP will block air vents.

I use the bottom area to keep a second laptop and the space fits even with a cooling pad under to elevate it. These are fixed angle and not adjustable like the one in the OP.

Be careful of what you see and buy on SD these days. Just because the deal is Popular, doesn't mean it's actually a good buy. It's most likely a paid "deal" and you can easily tell when you have new users with "(10)" next to their username advising it's a good buy. Their grammar will give it away also.

Do a quick search for similar type of product and you'll know what I mean.

Macbooks or most light Windows laptops don't have air intakes at the bottom. So, that shouldn't be an issue with any stand, unless you need it for something like a gaming laptop.
What you're saying really only applies to "ultrabooks" not regular laptops. Mac laptops are the original "ultrabook" and various PC copies are made with a similar design.

Most regular laptops still have air intakes on the bottom, so the point about no ventilation is still important to note. Dells, HPs, Lenovos - regular business class laptops will have vents on bottom. My Dell Latitude from work goes bananas with the fans if I don't prop it up for some airflow underneath, when I use a flat laptop desk.

You get a separate keyboard and mouse. This is just a lift to bring the screen to eye level.
