Got rejected, have a 780ish credit score. Maybe too many credit card sign ups recently
From what I could find online regarding BofA these are their restrictions for credit cards:

- You can only get approved for 2 new cards in a 30-day period
- You can only get approved for 3 new cards in a 12-month period
- You can only get approved for 4 new cards in a 24-month period

Apparently it only looks at BofA cards. Where as the Chase 5/24 rule looks at any credit card issued to you, regardless of which company issued it to you.

Edit: Adding the 7/12 and 3/12 rules for BofA higher up to this comment.

"7/12 and 3/12 rule"

"According to this rule, customers with a BofA deposit account will not be approved for new cards if they've opened seven cards (across all issuers) in the last 12 months, while customers without a BoA deposit account will be rejected if they've opened three or more cards in the last 12 months."

Also rejected - 820 credit score and i have no BoA credit cards (never have). They did hit me with a hard credit check though. :|

I have a few of these on my account. The rotating categories help fill in the gaps my 5% cards leave depending on the quarter.
Technically if you're a large enough customer, you get 5.25% CB once the actual deposit is made and the 75% bonus is factored in. Not bad for a zero fee card.

These are the best rewards cards to own if you give BofA enough assets for the 75% bonus tier (5.25% ROI).

The only minor issue is the $2500 quarterly cap. But that's not regularly a problem for most middle class spenders.

Can someone tell me what exactly "online cash rewards" means? Is that just another way of saying statement credit?
You don't have to use the cash rewards as statement credit.

You can transfer it to a linked account. I transferred the $200 bonus to my BoA savings account.

Does BOA still offer a 10% bonus when you redeem cashback rewards into a BOA checking/savings account?

Oy vey, I must have done all these "free" bonus credit card bonuses. They had this months ago. I already got my $200. I'm looking for another fix. I've exhausted all the others. Is it worth it? Would you even notice the difference? Not like this is life changing money, but I did end up with a new laptop computer.

That was my plan. (They see my "Platinum Honors" tier and probably my ML value.) I applied a week ago and got approved: 5.25% back on "travel" with 0% purchase APR combined with a bonus offer is too good to resist.

Data points: Got Chase FU ~7/27 (first card in probably 3 years), capone Savor (when it was a 250 back on 500+ spend) in December, BofA Travel Rewards in late February (now seeing 25k points awarded) and of course this latest card. Courtesy of LOTS of overtime, I can show the income that would make them beg to have me as a customer. (But that's likely more on limits as opposed to getting approved.)

As I have seen no mention of it on the site (and that redemption is what I was planning on doing), guessing there is no 10% bonus. That would be sweet though, but that might well have gone the way of the original Chase Freedom 3% rewards (before rotating 5% categories) and AMEX Blue Cash also having a different bonus structure.

I already have the same card, but issued by MasterCard and not Visa. I really love it. I have keep Category "Online Shopping" for their 3% cash back. And I am platinum honor reward member so I get 5.25% effective cash back which is very good.
Any idea if I get this deal, which is for Visa, then I can select "travel" or "gas" category and get 5.25% cash back on it ? It would be like having option to selecting 2 category for 3% cash back.

Bank of America counts Merrill Lynch account balances to determine reward tiers (thus the name BAML in financial industry). It's fairly easy to maintain $100k balance in combined 401k/IRA/regular investment. Other perks include discounted loan rates, discounted mortgage origination fees, free ATM access, free trades, etc.

If most of the spendings are online, 5.25% if quite a bit. There is a $2,500 quarterly cap but one can have multiple cards. Personally I set one card on gas and also use it for groceries (it includes Walmart and Costco). Another two cards are on online shopping. It is possible to own 4 BofA cards at the same time, and one can tailor the reward categories based on individual needs. The category can be changed once per calendar month effective immediately. In a situation a card is currently on dining, it can be immediately changed to online shopping should there is a need to buy a new computer.

Disclaimer: I don't work for BAML.

How is it possible to have multiples of the same card? I currently get 2.625% back on my BoA Travel Rewards card but I'd love to bump it up to 5.25% for multiple categories. If you or anyone else can shed some light I'd be very appreciative.
